Squids and/or Peter, is there a lot of SR content overlap between SonikSynth 2 and each of vintage keys, piano collection, and world instruments expansions? If so, is it 20%, 30%, 50%, higher? Thanks!

Please i need an explanation for completely noob about what is going on!!

If i understand correctly its about SampleTank which is a sampler/rompler.

Its has 4 versions

* SampleTank 2.5
* SampleTank Free
* SampleTank 2 L/XL
* SampleTank 2 XT

in this case (of the group buy) we are getting the SampleTank 2 XT version which has exactly the same engine like SampleTank 2.5 right?

also this version (SampleTank 2 XT) comes with 1GB of content right?
can we choose this 1GB or it is standard?

and except that we choose 3 more sample packs (we pay the 1 we get 3) right?
if yes where we can find a FULL list of all the available packs we can choose from? of it is only from the new latest packs mentioned in the GB?

sorry for the noob questions my friends!

SampleTank Free no longer exists and 2.5 L and XL are full versions with different size libraries included. 2 XT (which is really 2.5.4 engine, with NO feature limitations other than library size) is the new version that comes free with these Xpansion Tanks.

Yes to the same engine, yes it comes with 1GB of content. No, you don't choose - it is a set of content that you download. It contains some sounds from the Tanks, and other products like Miroslav Philharmonik, etc.

You buy one, you get two free now since we are at 3x1 (and will likely get three free soon - and probably beyond that. People are talking 6x1 but this will have to explode like the T-RackS Singles Group buy for that :) Your choices are all amongst these 30 Xpansion Tanks in the Group Buy.
sorry for the noob questions my friends!
That's what we're here for!

I have never experienced IK's stuff before. Can anyone give me some advise.
Here is what I have
Logic Studio (thus all that comes in it)
NI Komplete 5
NI Kore Player with all the free content and 1 purchased Organ korepack (did that before I got Komplete).
Roland Sonic Cell plus 2 SRX cards (World and Ultimate Keys).
Thus, I have pianos and epiano's (and then some).
I have organs galore
I do have lust for Omnisphere- and Sylus RMX.

So knowing what I have- and what I lust for- what packs would be a good addition.
I am not sure about loops, but then again- I want Sylus so maybe going the loop route- with maybe a vocal or string add on would do it.
Not sure- but I think I have enough electronic sounds.
Thoughts.
Also, is this 64-bit- any issues in running this in Logic.
Then again, for $50- wow.
(oh, and if anyone does help me out- I will use your name as the referral- not sure what that is all about but would like to "bless" those that help).

Don't need to use me as a referral, considering where I work but I'll be happy to start the ball rolling. It sounds like you've got your piano/epiano "meat and potatoes" and some variation on them with the software and the Roland unit together. However, I LOVE the piano Xpansion Tank here - someone mentioned the Home Tape Piano and its child presets which ROCKS and Sonic Reality does great dirty Wurly and Rhodes for sure. Worth a look if we go to some CRAZY number like 6x1 or more. Keep that one in your back pocket, in other words.

Where you might do really well here is in the vintage and world sounds. Yes, you probably have a few with what you list - but these are a couple of Sonic Reality's real sweet spots. Dave and company do vintage/world/weird/cool stuff like nobody's business. The vocal Tank would be a good one too, might fill some holes for you, and I can't go more than a few posts without recommending Cinematik. Motion/synth/string/film sounds out the yang.

They also do the hip hop and related sound sets in a very unique fashion, so you're not getting the same old same old there at all. The analog, synth, and orchestral elements in the hip hip Tank are VERY cool. And that's not my typical cup of tea, but there are usable sounds there galore. Try the RnB Harp, take it out for a spin.

Loops? That's your call. I like a lot of these loop sets and I don't use loops much. I'd get 'em and mangle 'em and at least keep them in your back pocket like the pianos.

Edit - oh and it isn't 64-bit native but I've had no problems on Win7 64-bit and we test on 64-bit systems. These are so RAM-friendly that you won't gain anything from that portion of the 64-bit advantage.

Yes, VSTadapter. Check out some videos Dave from Sonic Reality (Squids on here) did for the loops: http://www.ikmultimedia.com/xpansiontank/videodemo/

+1 about overlap between SS2 and the expansions.

I was in the SampleTank Rare and Vintage Group Buy a couple of years ago. Would it be safe to choose the world expansion or is there much overlap? Thanks!

Actually you were 30 minutes late. I saw the first post in this thread an purchased right away. Not your fault just a spot of bad luck for me.

is there really a possibility of large overlap with sonik synth 2?

One thing I've never understood about IK Multimedia (which overall I find to be a very customer-friendly and responsive company) is why they are so secretive with providing complete lists of the instruments and patches for their products -- right on their website. It would be great if someone would actually follow up on this for these Xpansion Tanks on offer.
