Diva Vs. Real Analog

As usually people at KVR read only half of my posts. I also mentioned a few softsynths (and the quite cheap Slim Phatty too) that gave me a comparable experience/feeling.
I don't think that the price of the synth should matter when talking about differnces of softsynths and real analog synths. I could have also mentioned the Jupiter 8 which i had back in 2004...

Again. In all my posts i had mentioned that softsynths like e.g. Diva, Synthix and maybe also TimewARP 2600 are really close to the target but that there is still an audible difference, mostly in the low frequencies.

Analog sound is great but the workflow absolutely SUCKS.. Diva brings the sound of analog in the superior format of digital plugin workflow. It doesn't get any better than that.

So it wasn't a complaint? I don't like the high CPU usage of Diva either but the sound makes it worth to me. For years I wished for a synth that sounds great but has to be rendered for that! Now I own it.

Does a software instrument exist that does this as nicely, without "interpolation problems"?

I know that Artemiy Pavlov of Sinevibes makes an awesome software wavefolder, and digital wavefolder/shapers exist in the modular world (like the beautiful WMD Geiger Counter) but I analog devices simply do these kinds of things right by nature, with distortion being harmonic and no interpolation needed.

Best of both worlds I say! Diva looks/sounds very nice.

Right. I want the good shit. But not in the form or a current eating like there's no tomorrow, monophonic, no patch saving wall of cupboard modular.
All inside one laptop. With 1k times the CPU power than I have right now.

Entspann Dich, Mann! I read your whole post but I like the joke nevertheless. That was ALL. I didn't laugh at your cost nor did I take you not seriously. I simply laughed because this is the highest price that I read for a synth for quite some time. That was all.

Contact me if you ever get to Berlin. The difference in bass is non-existant between Diva and our reference hardware. If anything then Diva has more heights (thus, at same level she'll of course have less bass, unless you eq 12kHz+ out of Diva)

I appreciate Ingos post as it shows his transparency/honesty in his tests/assumptions.

Here is an actual owner of a Moog and has also tested out DIva.

Plus he is Deutch so he is not showing any bias or nationalistic pride.

His main statement refers to DIva not being able to cut the low rumbling frequencies of the Moog.

Once again there is no contest between this new synth and the real thing it is trying to emulate.

High CPU usage is a silly complaint. A slick computer dedicated entirely to a single instance of Diva would be a fair A/B for comparison to analog gear.

No I am not a fanboy, in fact I'm skeptical about being able to get the particular kind of colors I need out of Diva without effects. And yeah, my actual use of VSTi's is almost nil. I just respect a superb synthesizer, whatever it is made of.
