I'm still waiting on my code for Vol. 4 (I purchased via JRR Shop), but I'm definitely excited nowHarry_HH wrote:Vol. 1 seems to include some of the most classical tron sounds, but a lot of less unusable, too. Vol. 4 overall sound me best. Your opinion?elxsound wrote:Did anyone see that they've had a sale on expansion libraries?
I just splurged a bit to grab ChamberTron, OptiTron, The Streetly Tapes M300 and I wasn't gonna do it, but after playing with those 3, I went back for the Streetly Tapes Vol 4.
There's not much I could see for demo content on Volume 4 (I don't have flash installed on this machine so can't check the audio demos). The video, which is always great to see didn't show as much as some of prior libraries (as far as I could tell). Either way, it's not the worst gamble, as I've loved everything so far.
The only expansions I don't have now are OrchesTron and Streetly Tapes Vol. 2.
I keep coming back to check out the OchesTron, but aside from the collector like feeling to buy it all, I just can't see myself using it and that's more important than a great sale price. Still, if you love lo-fi, it could make sense for another flavor.
Is GForce M-Tron Pro still the best "Tron" vst?

Here's a review from the release of Vol. 1 that talks about the differences with the original MTron library:

@ Harry - the Streetley tapes are taken from the master tron (skeletron) from which the tape copies to be sold to Mellotron users. They are therefore truer to the original tapes - but possibly further away from a slightly knackered tron would sound. But the other thing there are alot of new or rare sounds among them.
How useful they are depends on whether you feel the new sounds or slightly different versions of sounds are worth it. The original sounds are fine - if you are really into those sounds then you may well want the expansions.
@ Jsp - it depends on whether you use spot sounds much - if you do then they give you a set from a bygone age - different from modern ones, or the Fairlight ones etc. There are a huge number of sounds actually in that expansion.

Thank you for the replies above.
I enjoy vintage sounds, but as a M-Tron Pro owner are a bit doubtful, if the investment is worth. I own also UVIs StringMachines 2, among others.

Did you ever get your code from JRR? I'm still waiting and it's been 5 days so far.elxsound wrote:

Did you check your GForce account? For some reason, I received the serials from JRR for Optitron and Orcheston, but Streetly Vol.4 just showed up in my GForce account automatically.

Ha! It did. What in the world? I ordered Vol. 1 at JRR and I got the serial via email. I ordered Vol. 4 at JRR and it just magically showed up in my Gforce account.bharris22 wrote:Did you check your GForce account? Bizarre. I never would've thought to look there.
Thanks for the tip. Good work!

Just finished reading this thread and thought I'd bring it up to date as I'm looking to buy M-Tron Pro and Streely vol 1 and maybe vol 2 or m300. No real sales right now and it's Christmas day
but whatever I need to get some Tron.
What got me into Tron sounds was actually the "Mellotron Violins" patch from the mellotron in the Kontakt factory library.. and it's not the best quality but that patch has that sound I want.. Can anyone confirm which of the Streetl volumes has the strings that would closely resemble the sounds of the ones in Kontakt factory library (but better), or if even the stock sounds in M-Tron Pro already has that sound of strings?
Lasty, can anyone confirm the quality of the Tron pianos in Streetly vol 2? There's no sales right now for Tron stuff at GForce (unless I buy ALL volumes) and no demos, so trying to make the best purchase the first time. Thanks!

The Tron Violins are likely going to be part of the original sample set with M-Tron. The Streetly volumes add from other tapes and versions and would be of a less familiar nature than the more popular "go to" sounds of the 70's. I have M-Tron and all of the expansions and they are fantastic!
