Of course you may.
And it's probably not even something "groundbreaking" - simple because that groundbreaking stuff is already covered in other sequencers.
But well, I can give you just a few examples:
- Polyphonic editing of audio material, Melodyne DNA style. And if not, Apple should just cooperate with Celemony and realize it through their (apparently "open for everyone") ARA bridge. Just as Studio One did.
- Major EXS enhancements. I mean, they bought Redmatica. Yet, the EXS hasn't changed at all (oh, there's "Round Robin" now - what a great deal...).
- Parallel inserts. Those would be kickass for a whole lot of operations (I could go into the details...).
- Buf fixes galore. Not sure how many there are, but apparently some "bugs" (or "less then ideal" things) are still just the same.
- A professional audio editor. In LPX it seems to look good (waveform display and such) but I'm not sure whether it's just a change in makeup. In fact, I'm pretty sure that it's pretty much just that... unfortunately.
- Volume handles for audio regions. That's just a really, really nice feature of, say, Cubase/Nuendo. I fail to understand why not each and every sequencer in the world offers that.

I could defenitely go on with quite some other things, just that I don't have enough time right now (moving houses...).

Ah well, let me add that I had to change my opinion on the new "Drummer" thing. At first I thought it was just some other case of "thrown in content for free", but apparently it's really tightly integrated, offering certain things that no other sequencer/plugin combination does. So, thumbs up for that one. I'd defenitely use this. Also thumbs up for the MIDI plugins (even if they could/should have been there since ages...).
But that's pretty much it and it's also still quite beyond me why this has taken them 4 years.

Hi, my name is Stephanie. It'll be just a moment while I review the comments you provided.

Stephanie:
Hi Rob, how are you?

Rob:
Hi Stephanie

Rob:
I purchased Logic Pro 9 only a couple of months ago after switching to a mac from winodows and paid £139.99 and now they bring Logic ProX and ask me for another £139.99? How is this?

Stephanie:
I am so sorry to hear that and I understand how frustrating that can be.

Stephanie:
May I please have your Apple ID?

Rob:
I took years to make a switch but i'm now dissolussioned here

Rob:
Apple id is donkeytugger70@?????

Rob:
I just bought a few things from the app store plus others online but this is terrible about another £139.99 for Pro X

Stephanie:
Thank you one moment please

Stephanie:
Unfortunately, Logic Pro X is newer than Logic Pro 9 and it would be two different orders.

Rob:
So there is no upgrade path or free update for people who just bought a mac?

Rob:
I didnt' even know Pro X was coming out till today

Stephanie:
I am looking into this now one moment please

Rob:
okay

Stephanie:
You should be able to download Logic Pro 9 again, but not Logic Pro X.

Stephanie:
Apps purchased on another Mac can be installed on other Macs by opening the Mac App Store on each destination Mac and signing in with the same Apple ID as you used to purchase the apps originally. Selecting the Purchases view at the top of the the Mac App Store window will display all apps which have been purchased with that account. Apps not yet installed on the current Mac will show an "Install" button next to the app name and description. Clicking the Install button will install the selected app on the current Mac without charging the account again. The apps installed in this manner will be placed on the current user's Dock and installed in the Applications folder.

Rob:
your avin a giraffe? ah never mind thanks that wasn't my point sure i can download 9 but i only came to a mac from windows a short time ago and find that i have to pay another £139 just to use Pro X.. thanks again

Stephanie:
I am so sorry about the inconvenience.

Stephanie:
You are very welcome! Thank you for contacting Apple iTunes Support. Is there anything else I can help you with regarding this issue today?

Rob:
Ok thank you

Stephanie:
Have a great day!

Stephanie:

After researching of new LPX whole day I must say I am not impressed..

If it came 1-2 years after Logic 9 it would be really good improvement, but 4 years of development and not improving Logic's engine and sluggish-ness of audio editing and we still have old archaic EXS24 is disappointment..If at least they put some simplified version of sampler (like Live's Simpler/ Studio One's Sample One) it would be good addition ..

I don't see much point on upgrading on synths when there are much better 3rd party synth plugins.
They could also focus more on non linear arranging and workflow, definitely more on audio editing which should be non-destructive. Also more advanced freezing functionality would be excellent addition..

I am afraid Apple is killing professional products more and more and they are focusing on "prosumer" market as it is generating more money immediately.
Basically, except new look (which is basically re-skin as they didn't touch anything under the hood) and new folder tracks there are very few features left which we couldn't do with Logic 9 + 3rd party plugins.

Apple can afford to do what ever they want to with Logic as it is generating a very small percentage (probably below 1%) of their income, but making it more "consumer-friendly/prosumer" will definitely boost more Mac sales and more garageband users will switch to LPX as "it is more pro".

I think few years from now Apple will merge GB and LP into one single simplified software package.
Luckily, we have other companies whose main products for their income is music related software and they will hopefully develop their software listening their customers.

(On the other side, how many of these companies are depending only on their DAW software as flagship products? Ableton, Image - Line, Bitwig (maybe?), Cockos and few other smaller players. All other are just part of big machinery for making money in audio/video industry)
We should better hold on :help:

Not everybody is willing to shell $199 for a DAW. That's were consumer apps go.

And you know, even GarageBand is too complex for guitarists. Logic X could blow their mind.

It's easy. After the release of Logic 9, the Logic Team in Germany (which was previously the Emagic team) was given an offer by Apple Mgmt: Relocate to Cupertino to continue working on Logic in CA, or find a new job.

Only 2 people apparently accepted the offer and then after relocating they had to train an entire new staff hence the extremely long delay time.

And yes, this is 100% confirmed by several sources.

Very interesting.
Where are all these talented people now?

When does Logwig come out? :hihi:

I'm not sure where you did get that information, but I am pretty sure that Gerhard Lengeling, Chris Adams, Clemens Homburg, Michael Haydn, Thorsten Adam, Steffan Diedrichsen and Markus Sapp are all still with Apple (or at least they were in 2012). So, whom exactly are you talking about?

"That new version may never come, as word has leaked out of Apple Europe (where Logic development is based) that the company has let go virtually its entire Logic team except for 2 pro application specialists. Word is that there is no plan to hire anyone else, which does not bode well for the product."

I also heard the same from a source inside the company.

As much as I have my gripes with Apple/Logic, this is something I'd like to know as well, as the information I have is pretty much exactly the same (add some of their betatest coordinators to the list of people still working on Logic).

All I know is that both Gerhard Lengeling and Markus Fritze have moved to CA. With the rest of the team (whomever that might be) still working in Rellingen (slightly north of Hamburg, Germany).

I might be wrong, though.

Say people...

All I read is that this thing is "only available" through the AppStore.
Does that mean: no boxed version? Not even on an USB stick?

If that is the case, that'S the main reason why I stell the hell away from Apple. All is handled "online", without drives and such. While this can be a good thing for a lot of people, I'd still love to have at least a "boxed" version. And by boxed, I mean at least a physical copy - not a self-burned or put-to-USB-stick download.

But I guess, this is Apple future now. Also considering the "new" MacPro "powercell".

Yeah. You are wrong.

That team mentioned was the Pro Audio marketing team, and they are nothing to do with the *development* team behind Logic (and GB, and the iPad apps etc).

Ah well, a single blog on the net is saying something and you instantly believe it?
Also, which "inside source"?
I mean, seriously, if you are not allowed to talk about your "inside knowledge", then just don't do it. But *if* you talk about it, then you should better come up with some reliable source material instead of just another blog.
