Thanks! As it happens, I was unnecessarily panicking last night. I was looking at my watch and it was saying it was the 16th, and I thought "Oh no, tomorrow is the 17th so working on it tomorrow night may be too late". The thing is, it was already past midnight. D'oh!
As I mentioned in the Plogue Bidule forum, I'm doing something crazy for this competition: learning a completely new host (I usually use Fruity Loops). But crazy competitions call for crazy ideas.

I'm last in line! #1 in lateness!
I'm on OS X with Logic, so my choices were severely limited to what I could use, and a lot of the OS X VST stuff doesn't translate too well to AU.
Not complaining though, made it interesting being limited in approach, the only synth out of the four offered that I can use, or don't have already is Symptohm.
I recently did a demo for Urs Heckman's Zebra synth, ( Zebranaut on his site ) , and found it entertaining to only use one synth, no FX, to write a song.
Question / suggestion for Smartelectronix guys watching this thread,
You should host all of the entrants mp3's so we can hear them, it's only around 65 songs! Personally I want to hear the stuff you guys can't stand as well as the winners!

Hey, I'm not on the list anymore?
What gives?
My name is Michael Canavan, the song is Among the Thugs. I saw my name on the list, and removed the song from my website.
Nothing is used in the song except Smartelectronix stuff, (it was mastered with PSP Vintage Warmer, but that was deemed OK in the rules, and Logic's internal Multipressor is a dud ), does the list change?

machinesworking: you failed to follow all the rules...
you submitted an HTML page on which we could download an mp3 after registering with a certain service...
I.e. you submitted:
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/4/futurekillmusic.htm
1. our bot can't download the mp3
(every file submitted had to be a DIRECT link to an mp3)
2. making a login and then getting the mp3 is a bit of work, and there's 60 people in the competition...
I'm sorry man, but the rules were very clear on that part...

Oh well...
Your rules might have be very clear, but the site I hosted the song on, doesn't of course make it clear you need to register to download. Though I bet most of the mp3 hosts are like that. Just my luck. I really have to get another mp3 host, they do stupid stuff with iTunes even if you're registered as well.
Well I wasn't really doing the contest to win the synths, but I of course wanted to win the competition, and make you guys listen to my song. My music is probably a little too brutal for even you guys though.
BTW, are you ever going to do a GUI for the AU version of Ambience?

just get a REGULAR host and put the mp3 files on there... "mp3-hosts" like mp3.com [RIP] really are just glorified regular hosts.
Ambience + AU + GUI => don't think so...
Maybe use a wrapper?

Poor Bram's gotta listen to 60 songs... multiplied by 3 minutes each... 3 hours of music to go through... And maintain SmEx... And develop new plugins...
I'm thinking September?

To be fair, there are, what, like 14 of them? So 3 minutes, times 60, times 14 just for the first listen (I doubt they'll all listen at once), and then at least another 3 minutes times 30 times 14 to figure out a winner.J Dub wrote:Poor Bram's gotta listen to 60 songs... multiplied by 3 minutes each... 3 hours of music to go through... So ((3*60)*14) + (((3*60)*14)/2) = 63 hours.
I hope they packed a lunch. And that should be tripled if we account for drinking and loo breaks. No sleep allowed though.
