It would be nice to get a user's site up, to dispense info and tutorials.

I still want to make a real neck and body for one someday.

I've secured the domain name www(dot)ez-eg(dot)com and will be setting up a site to host plugins, tutorials, user info, etc. Look for something in the next couple days.

Anyway, I figured it was time that I contributed something to this little community....

What about a gig bag or case? Or should these really stay in the security of your studio?

Oh, and here I was thinking that "EZ-GE" would be better: "EZ Guitar Environment". Started using it to describe my script! :P

We don't need no stinky whammy bar :uhuhuh:

EZ-AG users are PROS that use their fingers instead :

Got my EZ-AG Yesterday, Gotta' say I love it!
What a great invention!

I'm pleased that I did'nt shell out for the EG.

Yes the neck feels quite weak, so dont go doin' any neck-pull whammy effects with it or you'll be left holding a severed neck!

BTW,Markleford & Secondskin for what it's worth: I prefer "EZ-GE" (guitar enviroment) :D

Post

Hi all! Thx a lot to everyone for this cool thread, it finally made me get a EZ-AG myself. :D
I received it just 2 days ago, bought it at netzmarkt.de/thomann for 145 Euro. And to my big surprise the power adapter was included. :) (They ship to other european countries then germany too, so maybe some of you might be interested in that info...)

I thought i should contribute my first experiences with that toy, too, so here i go...

Unmodded use:
I first tried in "LOCAL MODE OFF". To my surprise releasing a fret does not send "note off" in this mode (i read the whole thread, but it seems i missed that somewhere [edit: i see now, that virtual virtuoso pointed that out on the very first page... have to apologise, seems this thread has gotten too long for me... sorry  ]). So for me this mode does not work out at all...
"LOCAL MODE ON" (with a blind plug attached to the earphone jack) is working much better, as it sends note off, when releasing a fret. So far so good.
What is kinda annoying, is, that pull-offs work for me only, when i actually plucked that string before.
To the contrary of what SecondSkin stated in his initial post, pull-offs work for open strings too then... [edit: i found later that i am actually wrong with this for the unmodded version. It is in fact possible with Markleford´s script  ] (Also to me it seems as if pressing a fret does not always send at the same velocity; having the string plucked before seems to interfere here, so that hammer-ons with a before plucked string result in a higher velo then just pressing a unplucked string... i may be wrong with this...)
Another thing that is really bad, is, that quickly plugging one string several times results in chopped off notes. Every 4 or 5 plucks the ez-ag sends note off only instead of another note off/note on...

But here comes Marklefords App!!!
In guitar mode both of the mentioned problems just disappear!!! Pull-offs work without having the string plucked and quick plucking of the same string does work without chopping notes... I can´t express, how thankful i am actually for that application!!! BIG UP, Markleford, without you i would not be as satisfied as i really am with my ez-ag!!!
But there´s one problem i experience with your prog, hopefully you can give me some advice with it:
Using SONG SELECT and +/- keys does not work for me to select other presets. I have to manually change the preset.js and have to restart both the app and the main sequencer to have the changes take effect. I tried with the SOUND SELECT button, but that causes the app to crash (giving an error like "index out of range")
I would be so happy, if you could give me some advice, on how to change presets with running app & sequencer... then i would be perfectly happy... :D

And if i may, i´d love to ask Marc about his app also. I just can´t get it to run. I unregister Markleford´s, register your´s, but after choosing the MIDI-IN port (the same that works with Markleford´s app) and one midi-yoke out port (i understood in "left split"-pull down menu), i can´t have any midi-data running through it... :(
I would love to try your app, too, so i would be very thankful for some help...

Thanks so much to both of you for your programming effords, you´re really turning this toy into a secret weapon :D :D :D
Keep up the good work ...

There is no need to register twice. We use the same ocx (even if it's not in the same folder), so registering once is good enough.
Did you try the 'EZ_AG 3.hta' app ? The older version ('EZ_AG.hta) may not work anymore.
Also, look at the 'EZ_AG_Data\Readme Triggers.txt' file for some info.

Btw. once I press Sound Select, I can change presets in Markleford's app, seems to work ok here. Maybe you should download it again in case you changed something in the files.

Also, when using either app, it's a good idea to set the EZ-AG/EG to Local Off and set the syncro to external (this avoids unnecessary data to be processed by the plugs).

As I practiced some time to synchronize my left hand with the foot pedal, now, every time I use the foot pedal I play that stupid vibrato with my left hand

Hi antimaterie,

Thanks for posting this info!!! I checked the thomann site a couple of weeks ago and failed to spot the AG - checked again after reading your post and ordered one straight away

Thanks,
Dave

Hey Marc

Tell us more about the foot controler.
Are you using the Behringer FCB1010?
Is it controling Pitch or something else?

:?:

Hi Marc, thx a lot for your reply!
I see, i completely missed that "sync"-thing. Now after i set it up to be external, from out of a sudden your script (version 3) is running just fine for me (even when i set sync to internal again...) :D :D :D (Maybe that i messed things up with registering twice... (just thought it had to be like that because of the different path) )
Anyway still can´t change presets within Markleford´s app, but i´m already completely happy with your´s now  overfulfilling my needs already...

Sorry for bugging you with problems that obviously came through my ignorance in handling, and also sorry to everyone for repeating stuff that was already said before. All i can say to my apology is, that i´m completely euphoric about the EZ-AG combined with your scripts ... IT ROCKS !!! :band:

I wonder what it will come to, when the two of you combine forces in that :D :D :D

THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!
