See GS thread, loads of people been comparing it to OldTimer:

tried MJUC on a particularly spiky and uneven vocal recording (my technique sucks...), worked much better than Slate 1176. FG-401 fared much closer to MJUC but i still ended up preferring MJUC MK2 model over anything Slate. i think i finally found my goto vocal compressor.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Working for tv programs here and I use it heavily on all the voice over I mix. Punchy and thick and so easy to get where I want. Thanks again Tony ! :)

Great to hear, that you're enjoying MJUC, even though the honeymoon is almost over :)

Just wanna let you know, that I've just released a first maintenance update for MJUC which addresses the issues, that have been reported since the initial release:

- better GUI alignment, some minor GUI fixes such as adding a missing label near the SCF knob in Mk3
- reduced CPU load when using the plugin's internal bypass
- when used on stereo channels, GR-meter now shows the gain reduction of the stereo sum instead of left channel only
- FIX: default state gets recalled properly now in ProTools
- FIX: occasional erratic VU-needle-behavior
- FIX: OSX: 64-bit AU didn't pass AU-validation on some systems
- FIX: latency is reported properly now
- FIX: Windows: denormal issues in the Windows 32bit VST-version, when using Mk3
- FIX: Windows: when saving a default state, GUI didn't show up on some systems when loading a new instance
- FIX: Windows: MJUC didn't show up on some systems

MJUC jr. will be updated accordingly asap.

the update can be downloaded from the user area.

Please send me an email, if you're still experiencing issues.

Tony

Hey people, in case you've missed it: the calibration number (up-right) not only for the VU meter, it's also for the entire signal path, so that means if you set it to -24 for example, you will get more drive out of the compressor.

Post

yeah, that's what "calibration" means :)

If something is similar to what you already own you can ignore it

Anyone compare this to a bar of chocolate yet?
Anyone who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.

Loving MJUC :)

The calibration in the top right is genius. I think part of the strength and reason this plugin works so well for me is that Tony has optimised it's behaviour to a set input level and encourages the user to calibrate to this.

Once you've calibrated your input for the task at hand it means that you can then load any preset (which is independent of the calibration control) and try a wide range of treatments out without having to adjust input and output gains.

This makes it a lot faster to audition presets and also a great way to experiment with driving the processor harder or softer using a single control.

I've enjoyed the Mk 3 most of all so far but a setting on Mk 2 yesterday followed by the API2500 was just the ticket on a trance master. Definitely one of my favourite compressor plugins now! :)

Cheers

I once thought I had mono for an entire year. It turned out I was just really bored...

Re-Downloaded the MJUC jr... Not be updated... :?

Get the full version. You can't get a better compressor for less money. This one really is a no-brainer.

This is a really great compressor....

Even just passing the audio through the Mk 3 model on the master buss with less than 1 dB of level reduction (actually more like less than 0.5 dB) sounds really wonderful...

The audio passes through the tube stage in the MJUC and a little "magic" happens...

I have a lot of good compressors in the toolbox and this one is really special...

Mmmm...Digilog goodness :)

BTW : Like people have said...The full version is a completely different beast than it's Jr sibling...For the price of a few pizzas,it's worth chomping into the full version...It's got some tasty toppings and you have a choice of crusts - from crunchy to smoooooooooooooth :)
No auto tune...
