Worry not, I already have ~7 TB here, 4 of which are empty :P

(That's 500 GB for OS drive, 3x1 TB for sample libraries, 2x2 TB for sample libraries and stuff, 1 TB external work drive.)

...this looks really nice, though I'm not sure how much of a big deal the blocks concept is and if this hasn't been possible the whole time. I really want those toys, but to some degree I think a good portion of it is repackaging and profiting from the modular hype. But then again, it's all good, because my adventures into Reaktor have been sporadic, as looking under the hood was too frightening most of the times. So I guess, Reaktor Blocks will encourage to look deeper into Reaktor. One increasingly big selling point for me would be the longevity of Reaktor - its factory library still features ensembles from Reaktor 3 or even earlier. There aren't many VST Instruments that live that long. And the recent Reaktor instruments that have been released as single products are really cutting edge. My only wish now is that Reaktor 6 and Kontakt 6 and Maschine 3 will have a big modular marriage - like opening a Kontakt instrument directly in Maschine and modulating its parameters with some Reaktor modules...   It has to happen!!

Blocks are simply Reaktor instruments, so this WAS possible before. However, NI standardized the connections and made a development kit, making it much easier for newcomers to dive in and make their own stuff.

Dude, that is truly killer. All Samsung SSD?

Right, it just seems to make things a LOT easier, at least for dunderdorks like myself. I can get easily lost programming Reaktor, and I imagine I'm not alone. I also like the way the blocks look, another plus.

I have Komplete Ultimate 10. This update looks super interesting, so I'm debating whether I'll get it now or wait for 11. This is probably a dumb question, but if I already own Komplete can I still use the upgrade price for Reaktor 6?

Then again, if I wait for KU 11, it will probably include stuff like Emotive Strings (which I find verrrry interrrrestink). Choices, choices...

Would love to hear from anyone whom bought this update.
Ha ha suck it!

Only in my dreams :( All WD Black 7200 RPM except the OS drive which is a Seagate 7200 RPM.

...yup, thought so. I really hope this new concept will lead to some of the Reaktor gurus having a heart for the mere mortals and hack some of the modules of the factory library into Reaktor Blocks. There are a number of things that I would like to use in combination, but I never got around to getting it right. I guess, others want to do the same and perhaps this was part of the idea of Reaktor Blocks, so I'm really looking forward to the User Library being filled with factory ensemble modules...

And indeed, the user library is already active :hyper:

I'm only disappointed in the lack of polyphony (which seems a bit greedy, considering the comparison to modular hardware - still, this is in-the-box). But I suspect a complete change to the way instruments are connected is daunting. Maybe a future release...

Biggest news though is this shows a significant commitment to the framework, and after Kore, NI needed to show the love so serious devs would get back into the user library, which is still very active but not like it was at peak. No one wants to put their efforts into a lame-duck product.

The new tables look interesting. If they add scripting, I'm going to wonder what the future of Kontakt is. As it stands, these blocks look like maybe a first step towards a completely more modular environment within the NI ecosystem, especially given the way it looks like they integrate with Machine. I'm joining in the conspiracy theory NI is looking towards a full-fledged modular DAW, and with stems / Traktor, maybe beyond - there will be an NI wire from the oscillator to the dance floor. I'm drinking more of this Koolaid then Apple's right now.

Native Instruments: All Your Bass are Belong to Us. :hihi:

Anyone know how easy it is to integrate the new block UI elements into standard instruments (or if it's possible)? While the sound engine is state-of-the-art, the gui elements have been somewhat left behind (IMHO). Looks like new fonts, etc. (which are certainly welcome), but you still have to roll-your-own to do anything more than basic with knobs/panels. And the animated mod assignments in Blocks are awesome.

Kontakt is not Reaktor and Reaktor is not Kontakt. Completely different goals. Reaktor's sampling is not nearly as optimized as Kontakt's. Rest assured, Kontakt's future is quite bright and it won't go anywhere for the foreseeable time.

As easy as getting the Blocks Framework template from the UL:

And watch these vids:

Well you'll have to at least get yourself a nice SSD boot drive...

That'll change the pace of things for you significantly...
No auto tune...

TY - and if I trust anyone outside NI on the future of Kontakt, you're the man (I think the only Kontakt instruments I use regularly are Rhythmic Robot and Hollow Sun, so thanks for that too :tu: )

Those videos are on my TODO list after work/food/sleep, and they are going up in priority. Jazzed now to actually dive into Reaktor programming (been writing C++ for 20 years; how hard can it be?)

Indeed, but when I think that I'd have to probably reinstall EVERYTHING when I do that, I kinda shudder at the thought... I'll probably do that when I go W10, currently I'm sticking with W7 for the time being.

How possible is building a virtual moog modular in R6? Filter and Oscillator blocks all running at samplerate.
Intel Core2 Quad CPU + 4 GIG RAM

Post

Very possible, that's what Blocks are all about.

It's worth it. You have a cool setup, but the T1 makes such a difference...I had to endure installing Composer Cloud so I could have fast access to over a dozen of the East West libraries. I got that and more. I'm grateful every day I got that drive, and I've had it for over a month now.

Sorry off topic, Reaktor 6 is probably a have to get for me.
Ha ha suck it!
