Can you verify that the file cobalt-background-small.png is in the Cobalt Resources folder?

If it's there, could you email me the full file path to where Cobalt is located on your system? My email address is in the readme file.

Yes it is there.

On my system (Windows 10) Cobalt resides in C:/Program Files / VST Instuments. This is the path where all of my vst synths are living, the cobalt found on your website loaded the small version with no problems, it is only these updated ones that fail.

I wonder if the plugin is having trouble loading the files at that location due to admin rights.

But shouldn't the notes reset to the Attack value that is set rather than Zero ?

I'll let you know. :)

By attack value, do you mean the attack time?

On retrigger, the envelope's amplitude should be reset to zero. Then the amplitude of the envelope begins increasing towards one. The time it takes to reach one is determined by the attack time, which isn't changed by the reset. The Amp envelope's amplitude is used to modulate the output of the synth. So, for example, if the attack time is set to two seconds, on retrigger, it should take the sound two seconds to fade in. This is done by multiplying the amp envelope's output by the output of the oscillators.

It can't be that. I have full access to all of the folders in Program Files / VST Instruments.

So perhaps instead of returning to zero it should return to a value that doesn't cause the clicks ? As we discussed years ago an Attack value of Zero will cause clicks as expected so bumping up Attack time to around 0.009 does remove them. I'm trying to think of a situation where the clicks would be desirable and Drum sounds are all that come to mind.

Anyway I'm going to move Cobalt 5 to the studio computer now and test there. I've been testing on this machine with Reaper's Virtual Keyboard and headphones so the clicks are much more easily heard. I'll be able to test with a midi controller and see if the issue of random notes shutting down can be reproduced. Perhaps it was just a system specific issue. :)

I have Cobalt running fine here on Win 10 and Win 7 but my VST path on both machines is "C:/VST 64 Bit" outside of the Programs folders. :)

Is your Cobalt Resources folder in the same folder as the .dll and .ini file ? Mine is......

That's the part I don't understand. I have two files and one folder. In the folder is the large and small config files, plus the images (knobs / background / sliders etc)
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I think you need to add .ini to Cobalt:
Cobalt Resources
Cobalt.dll
Cobalt.ini

Leslie Sanford wrote:All parameters are in the INI file. I'll add a font_weight parameter to the status and drop down fonts. I'll make it optional. Valid values will be: thin, extralight, light, normal, medium, semibold, bold, extrabold and heavy. I'll document this in the INI files with the next release.
Thank you. :)
Leslie Sanford wrote:...the beauty of this approach is that you need only one dll. Just switch out the INI files and you're ready to do.
If you want to make that even slicker, you might consider this method:

- Name the Large and Small INI files something like SkinLarge.uidef and SkinSmall.uidef
- Put them and the Cobalt Resources folder into a Skins folder in the DLL dir
- Have a skin-selector on the UI which checks the Skins folder for *.uidef files
- Have the plugin write the name of the selected .uidef into Cobalt.ini
- On startup have the plugin check Cobalt.ini for what .uidef (skin) to load

(You get the idea.)

Advantages:
- Skins are organized into their own dedicated folder
- The users can select their skin-of-choice directly from the UI
- Many skin definitions (.uidefs) can live side by side in the same folder

That said: I myself have no problem with the way it is, so this is not a request.

Im just throwing out the idea. :)

I hope Mr. Sanford Adapts this as the default.
It has that same elegance of your work on PG8X!
Looks great. Is there a download link somewhere (including a small(er) version)?

Nope, no smaller version, and i didnt intend to release this one at all because im starting a new one from scratch.

(However, since the one in the screenshot would only require a minimal amount of adaptations i suppose i could get this one out first and present the new one whenever its done.)

I will think about it.

That's what he has right below the .dll in his screenshot.

Woa I don't know where the screenshot above came from but it shows the typical ENV1 quality that I've grown to admire so much. :)
