When I add Melodyne as an Item FX straight on the audio file in Reaper I don't really see the difference functionality wise between the two. Sure, it looks better GUI wise in S1 but maybe I missed something else. :P

Can you export midi from the essential edition in Reaper? I think that's a difference

Yeah. In Studio One it's just a simple select Audio Ctrl/Cmd-M and it will enabled Melodyne. If you want midi from audio just drag and drop that same audio file into a midi/instrument track.

The thing that makes S1 special is workflow and the way it works with Melodyne via ARA has no real equivalent. Logic's implementation is buggy and full or weird limitations. In every other ARA enabled DAW it feels tacked on.
