Any plans to release a paid update with modeled cymbals and hats in the future ?
The cymbals seem to be the more static sounding element right now. I would like to hear some extensive funk style hi-hat open and closed grooves to see what these can do

This won’t happen .. but what if Modo Drums accepted stereo input so we could route another drum products output into its engine so that we could use say the cymbals from another product but use them in the same acoustical space as Modo Drums.

You could likely do this more easily just using your DAW and MIDI. There will be more videos and such, as the sampled cymbals are quite detailed and the hi-hats and their available control options are quite extensive.Scotty wrote: Sun Jun 30, 2019 3:47 pm This won’t happen .. but what if Modo Drums accepted stereo input so we could route another drum products output into its engine so that we could use say the cymbals from another product but use them in the same acoustical space as Modo Drums.

I have full confidence that IK will deliver a solid release including the cymbals. My thoughts were that if you could route external inputs into the Modo engine it would run through the same room / reverb spaces and sound more natural than running the other drummer independently. Given that many of us would have other drummers we could leverage them along with Modo and enjoy a more cohesive sound by cherry picking from other collections but all routed through Modo.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2019 4:07 pm

Gotcha. I'll let the devs know about your suggestion. Thanks!Scotty wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2019 5:23 pmI have full confidence that IK will deliver a solid release including the cymbals. I will like to see a demo of the Hi-Hats 3 articulations only just Does not sounds like we are in 2019.. sounds more like back to the old midi.. close,, semi-open,, full open..
at least 5.. or more.. this is where must of all drum Vsti fail.. I hope Modo Drum has some really nice innovative ideas for the Hi Hats..

If the cymbals and hihats don't have the level of realness and mod. flexibility like the toms and snares, i think many will loose interest.
I was really excited about modo drums, but the lack of focus on the cymbals which is "only" sampled put a damper on that excitement
Hope i will be proved wrong

I would like to hear some dryer sound demos than what is currently available. I would like to hear the drums without any artificial room or reverb added in

Will this have a built-in groove editor ?

i too hoped so, but they don't. the hihats are sampled, and there are three of them (seriously? three hihats?). the only "innovation" IK has added is hiding most of the articulations behind a variable CC, so in terms of MIDI notes you actually get closed/semi-open/open for tip and shank, and everything else (by the way, what? IK won't tell...) is only available through a CC. this will make programming drums not with a V-Drum module a chore.lasteno wrote: Wed Jul 03, 2019 3:10 am I hope Modo Drum has some really nice innovative ideas for the Hi Hats..
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

You also have continuous control and x/y placement support (outside of GM map range, and also directly supported on e-drum brains that support this function) which can be programmed very realistically. It is nowhere near "old MIDI".lasteno wrote: Wed Jul 03, 2019 3:10 am I will like to see a demo of the Hi-Hats 3 articulations only just Does not sounds like we are in 2019.. sounds more like back to the old midi.. close,, semi-open,, full open..

The hi-hats don't only offer three sounds for each hi-hat, I think there was some confusion there. The hi-hats will offer 9 Articulations each. The foot-pedal is both controllable via MIDI CC and MIDI Note On/Off messages, so both V-Drum and MIDI composers should have no issues creating realistic performances.Burillo wrote: Wed Jul 03, 2019 12:46 pm i too hoped so, but they don't. the hihats are sampled, and there are three of them (seriously? three hihats?). the only "innovation" IK has added is hiding most of the articulations behind a variable CC, so in terms of MIDI notes you actually get closed/semi-open/open for tip and shank, and everything else (by the way, what? Really appreciate the additional details Ryan and Peter. It is looking better for the V-Drummer and midi programming crowd.
