Yep, pretty much all of the older plugins could have much improved, and resizable interfaces, for sure. It may be that complete interface overhauls are on the cards for ST6, and this is one of the things that's taking them so long, as well as M1 support and other tech debt issues.

I would love for Soundtoys to implement basic oversampling as well as input/output gain on all of their plugins, it's there on some but not all. I want to be able to use Little Radiator without the actual gain changes affecting how I perceive the preamp saturation, and without having to compensate for changes in the level as a result of dialing in more saturation. Hell, Devil-Loc Deluxe has a mix knob but it's still missing I/O gain that lets you listen to your changes without the level differences getting in the way. Decapitator still gets louder the more you saturate it, but the auto gain switch helps keep it under control.

Another thing that is probably a bit more complicated to implement would be L/R or M/S chain splitting in Effect Rack. If you could just slot in a "split signal" zone, you could have 2 instances of each plugin for the different channels, with the panels surrounding the processors changing colors to show which channel they're affecting.

I love Soundtoys, and that second paragraph is probably too much work to expect in an update to Effect Rack, but Soundtoys seriously needs to catch up to the rest of the DSP development game if they want young engineers to use their tools. They need to add oversampling, add some level-matching in the plugins that are designed to distort/saturate (little radiator, devil-loc, sie-q even), and stay on top of common practices to keep things fresh.

You can't do that in your DAW already? I use Logic, and you can run inserts in Dual Mono or M/S mode, where it automatically puts two instances of the plugin on a track on the M and S signals (and converts them between M/S and stereo automatically). You can couple the controls between the two instances or tweak them individually.

I would have thought other DAWs can do something similar, and this means it works for all plugins, without requiring developers to do anything in particular to support that configuration... cool feature, imo.

Ah you're right, I can do that in pretty much all of my DAWs, and being able to link changes across the plugins is useful. That's a feature that I need to start using more often. The only thing is that it could still be unintuitive to keep track of which parts you have separated, and you can't have the split part of the effect rack be recycled back into itself, since the two channels will always be split. Doing Multi-Mono on the plugin as a whole is nowhere near as versatile versatile as it would be if it was available inside the plugin. Still, not something I'm expecting from the guys at Soundtoys.

I have a couple of the Little plugs - EchoBoy Jr and Little Plate, and I really like them, and then I have Effects Rack, so I can use all the other plugins. I also have simple presets in my DAW to load Effect Rack with particular plugins, so can quickly load a single "Decapitator" rack or whatever.

It would be nice to have the individual plugins of the full collection, but not £300 nice...

All the SoundToys plugins I bought for fairly good sale prices, and one of the things I like about the ones I use the most is that they are small, focused plugins for particular tasks, not huge sprawling multipage 1000+ parameter behemoths. As some different colours from other stuff I have, I find them useful.
Thanks beely. I'm planning out my shopping list for Black Friday (I'm a bit scared how much I might spend!?!) and I think the Effects Rack, if it goes on sale again for $99, should be on that list. I bought into the IKM Group Buy and have been having fun with the MixBox, and having played with the Slate Virtual Mix Rack, I'm quite into the idea of a MixRack plugin bundle for Sound Design experimentations. Soundtoys isn't bread and butter mixing tools anyway, it's more experimentation focussed, so I think the Effects Rack will work perfectly, probably even better than the standalones (also: much cheaper!).

Peloton is linked to multiple injuries and the death of a baby. They had to recall millions of their products for safety issues. Soundtoys don't make anything that's dangerous.

Crystalizer is on sale, but it's not vst 3 which means it might not work in Cubase next year. Any news on vst 3?did the soundtoys retire to an island in the Bahamas or something?

For what they have said on their forums, it should enter public beta very soon.
