Actually I think Samplitude also falls into this category - so I believe there are two.

Hmmmm - looking at the Samplitude website it really is playing for the complete DAW now isn't it.

I'm sure this used to be considered a multi-track audio editor - and had some renown for it.

Maybe it was just how I always viewed it afterall.

Happiness is the hidden behind the obvious.

Yes, going for the DAW market now, but excellent for Audio, so they say!

But check out the price tag - about £800 :-o

Yes, but wasn't this thread supposed to be about Reason?

If you want to compare it to Reason or why you do or don't like it with reason and whatnot, then it probably has more topic validity, but I haven't seen you do that much.

The topic is "don't underestimate reason" not "audition cures cancer" :D

I mean, Bones doesn't like Reason, but he stuck to the topic in comparing it to his host Orion and that, to me, stuck on topic.

Regardless of others, my comments/review of Audition is - as you say - because it is a prime candidate for working alongside Reason to provide the complete package that other contributers to the thread expressed a wish for.

Reason doesn't record audio and is poor for mastering (and mixing, in my view). Audition complements Reason as a ReWire host by making these features available.

The comparissons with Cubase/Sonar/etc were raised by others on the thread - and I agree that they were off topic :-o .

However, once people had decided to flame at Audition (both for and against it) I felt it was worth coming back in to correct blatant errors in what they wrote.

I think that anyone reading this thread who likes Reason will be interested to know the truth that Audition is a great partner for Reason. And as has been pointed out by one of the other contributers above, even Propellerheads are now actively promoting Reason on their website 8) . I think that actually speaks for itself!

I hope that makes sense! No offence intended, but I don't really understand why anyone would want to have a go at Audition - it is generally well respected. But because it gets little press promotion, many Reason users may have been unaware of it's usefulness to them.

I thought that was *just* 8 track - do correct me if I'm wrong? :? But WaveLab looks overpriced to me from reading the specifications (about £500 in UK  )

The point about Audition - which makes it relevant to this thread - is that it is a ReWire host, which I don't believe WaveLab is - but correct me if I'm wrong again!! Being a ReWire host makes Audition ideal for mixing/mastering/audio recording in conjunction with Reason.

Also, unlike for example Sonar which only takes in 16 Reason (MIDI) tracks through its ReWire implemetation, Audition takes in the full 64 audio outs from Reason 8)

With Audition...No! :)

But I did compare Reason to FLS & Project5 a couple of pages earlier. :)

FLS & Project5 have open formats. Reason don't. 8)

Sad but true story :( :

Audition/Cool Edit is Pepsi.

Pro-Tools is Coke.

This kind of sterotyping has got to stop. And yes, Audition needs better marketing. 8)

I thoroughly agree Tony. And I reckon you're the man to do it. For no better reason than I doubt anyone else has a clue what it means.

It like no matter how hard Adobe tries with their product(Audition), they will always play second fiddle to Digidesign (Pro-Tools). :(

This isn't fair. :(

I know you think it's funny by my choice of words, but this is just wrong. :x

Post

NO WAY DOES AUDITION PLAY SECOND FIDDLE TO PRO-TOOLS! :x

It plays 3rd fiddle to wavelab and soundforge.

You're thinking audio editing only. But I'm thinking multi-track audio recording. :)

Now I don't know too much about Wavelab. But I know that Soundforge has a lot of positive reviews & users in it favor. 8)

Either way, it's good to know that a lot of people thinks Pro-Tools is overrated. :)

Don't underestimate Reason now! Geez... is this still going? Get a life!
