And the other winners - all excellent. :tu:

I'm delighted and surprised to score so high in this strong field of entries, I really thought the music was great all round.

(Richard - 0.889583333333333 is quite an amusing excel interpretation of the name of my track, 21:21 :ud: )
Oops, how did that happen :dog: Crazy what can happen in a spreadsheet.
That's cool that titles can be so mathy, 427/480 if you prefer fractions :hihi:

Congrats to the winners. So many good tracks this month. Loved the funk!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations Vovaman!

I was absolutely blown away by how detailed, funky and authentic sounding your track was. A very well deserved win!!

Congrats to all the other winners too. There was such a high level of musical composition this month and some lovely use of FX we normally wouldn't be able to use. It's also interesting how much more time people spend on compositions and arrangements when the sound design aspect is limited and we're not spending half a month trying to tweak sounds!

Thanks to everyone for all your great music, comments and votes and to Nils for creating a fantastic emulation for free and to BJ and Richard for such a great competition and for throwing some of these weird and wonderful vsts our way. I'm always in awe at the people who can create such fantastic plugins for free, and of everyone here making such great music with them. Kudos to you all.

Hope everyone has a great holiday or Christmas and a Happy new year. I'll skip on a prize this month.

Congrats to #1 Vovaman!
(I was the very first to favorite Galaxyfunk on Soundcloud :box:)

Very happy to see Treeheated as a top 5 winner with I/You!

Congrats to all winners!

And a BIG thank you for all the other great entries! :phones:

Congrats to the winners, and honorable mention for the rest of the participants.

Congratulations to the winner, to the other top-5 and of course to all participants! I agree, this was a more "musical" round in comparison to more sound-design orientated rounds in the past. Very interesting! Inspiring results!
And a big "Thank you!!" to all who liked my track and voted for it!
See (hear!) you again next year. All the best for 2022 to all of you!

Huge congratulations to Vovaman for the ridiculously funky Galaxyfunk - a well deserved win, imo, and a very marginally smaller huge congrats to everyone else that entered this month :) There were (again) some great unique entries and the scoring was so close, only 10 points separating 2nd and 12th!

Given the quality of the other entries, a heartfelt thanks to everyone that liked, commented on, and voted for my track, I'm really stoked to have made the Top 5  I have no idea how the prizes work, but if there is anything for 4th then I'll skip.

Hope you all have a great holiday season! :tu:

I won. Can't believe that, I'm so flattered! Thanks everybody who liked my track and gave me five points in the voting.
Do I need to send out my Cubase project to proove I didn't violate the rules? I can do that no problem.

I choose Audio Thing Outer Space as my prize.

My personal favourite submissions were by:

BBlunt Music - thats a vibe and very clean mix. and I LOVE reggae and you made it groove properly.
Liqih - killa drums and overall great energy
NeverBeenInARiot - just great music
gorgorgathgorgor - such a soundscape with just one instance? thats a masterpiece
Yadrichik Chaya - very pleasing track, took me on a journey

I enjoyed many others also but these are my top picks.

As I am new to the community I feel like I need to introduce myself a bit more.
I am a music producer and sound engineer from Moscow, Russia. Helping out songwriters and musicians to arrange and/or mix their songs. I do that for a living.
I have no formal education in music, selflearner, but I know basics of music theory and can play guitar and somewhat find my way around the keyboard also.
My educational degree is in sound for TV and film. And I used to work in that area for 10 years , mostly on set. Two years ago I switched to music and studio works almost exclusively and though I experienced a drop in income I feel much better doing what I love.
I've been into reggae music since young age, played in bands and produced reggae riddims for both local and international artists, did dubplates for soundsystems and stuff like that.
My favourite genres are all groove music: reggae, dub, funk, rnb, disco, hiphop. This music feels like home to me. But I stay open and often feed myself with other music like rock and edm too.
So thats my story.
I wanted to participate in OSC for a long time, and tried two times to come up with a track but those times I wasn't able to get what I want from the synths of month or ran out of time.
This time when I heard K1v I knew there is got to be anough in it to make this funky type of tune. And also modulation effects were allowed. So I jumped in!
The time was tight though as it was already November 27th or something.
I spent one day about 5-6 hours for sound design and arrangement and the next day I came back for two more hours to play the lead and do a simple mix.
And here we have my Galaxyfunk and I'm a winner. Still can't believe this! I'm really flattered you rated my effort so high. I thank you again!

wow I finally got the 5th place (yes i known is due to bh9090 didn't voted :hihi: ) but anyways is much more than i was waiting. Thanks.

K1v has been a good oportunity to know how works another rompler from the end of the 80s and to understand how made music some producers of that age.

Greetings to all entries, there several songs that for sure i will listen more times these days like 8 byte magic, december 2051, artic fox, lil alto, ease out, peace and joy, bliss k1v, cooper's dream, ovals, winter in every year and more than i don't remember in this moment.

And the prize, if is possible i will like to pick the Discovery discoDSP synth. Its a classic that I've never used and I want to try with it to get good trance sounds. :phones:
This remains me of 96/97 using Fasttracker II. I won a music contest of a computer magazine and they gave me a Maxi Sound audio card.

The next month I will be here again, i've realized that this its the only way that forces me to finish a song and make more than a few patterns. I've also noticed that there's a good community behind giving positivity feedback. :tu:

I still think you've belittle great work of DoctorBob! :tantrum: :hihi:
But in general, I gave 5 to almost everyone in the top-5 and I sincerely congratulate the winners! The tracks Galaxyfunk, 8 Byte Magic, I/You and Kawai Dreams are in my collection of favorite OSC tracks! But also congratulations to everyone who (unlike me) was able to finish the track this month! And, probably, I will also say that One Synth Challenge has its own space in Discord, where there is a discussion of important (and not very (and completely unimportant (and even irrelevant))) topics!
https://discord.gg/DV9BdSZa
P.S. I will also note that according to the top-5 tracks, the best descriptions for the K1v sound were "Dream", "Magic" and "Galaxy", with which I completely agree! :tu:

This reminds me of that time about a decade ago when I found an app that had streaming radio stations from all over the world, and I fell in love with a Russian Reggae station! Here was all this kick butt original reggae coming out of Russia! It's just another reminder that all over the world, people are people, and music is music. I just found that station again, and I'm jammin'!

Enjoy!

Congrats Vovaman! You destroyed us with your excellent track! The difference from first place to second - 14 points - is the same as the distance from second place to fourteenth. What a debut.

I'm so happy with my result. Congrats to the other winners, and thanks to bjporter and RichardSemper.

I enjoyed the change in the rules! Is that the first time it's been done? I'd be in favour of having Full 11 rules on occasion in the future. To balance it out we could have another month with ultra-strict rules; maybe the only plugins allowed are the month's synth and a single instance of a limiter.

Prize: I choose Modelonia.

I'm for it too! At a minimum, when Nils releases a replica of Kawai K4 (which he is already working on), it would be great to repeat it! And as for the super ascetic rules, then at least one any plugin for tracks + 1 any on the master! Or noFX at all. But there is a chance that no one will play it... :hihi:

Yeah, I think what I suggested would only be suitable when the synth is a quite versatile one that has plenty of its own effects.

The new update of surge would be an ideal candidate for this type of challenge, single instance as well possible :)
