I had a chance to check it out on headphones, it seems like it’s a levels thing, and you can even see it at one point in the display. Nothing that couldn’t be corrected with a quick tweak. The Roland plugin is amazing. I once put it up against the Deepmind 12, and I preferred it in every way to the hardware. The Deepmind went up for sale the next day.

Red Delicious apples vs Cosmic Crisp apples.... who cares? Like whatever you like.

I just wanted to state that I own a handful of Cherry Audio synths and make frequently use Voltage Modular to create some endless Drones.

Glad the cat is finally out of the Bag.

Inversely, it could help bring about positive change. I was super critical of Arturia for years, as were many. Now I’m one of their biggest fans.

Uh, more like Red Delicious apples at the night of ripeness vs. artificial apple flavoring. Look up Mock Apple Pie, for instance.

honestly, I can't stand them. but someone must like them. and that's completely fine. except to some people, apparently. :)

I don't like the texture of Delicious apples and they are very sweet.

Softube go to a bit of trouble to explain what it does, so I'm pretty sure it's a unique feature of the Model 84. They probably used the slider for the simple reason that it replaces the HPF from the original. It probably should be in the slide-out panel with the other extra features.

Cherry Audio provides decent quality instruments at a very affordable price, I've purchased every instrument they've made so far and have not been disapointed yet. Sure, Arturia and whatever makes versions which might feel more authentic, at five times the price, the Cherry Audio ones capture the sound and feeling well enough though. My Juno 106 used to randomly and quite suddenly go out of tune, a mark of authenticity I haven't seen even the more expensive emulations capture properly

The Arturia versions aren't 5 times the price when you purchase them as part of a the V Collection. In fact, they may actually be cheaper, synth for synth.

Five times the CPU then?

I have both the V Collection and all the Cherry Audio Synths, in some instances I prefer the Cherry Audio synths

Interesting that you say that because last night I had DCO-106, Model 84 and Arturia's Jun-V loaded into Studio One and DCO-106 was more CPU-intensive than the other two. There wasn't much in it but I was surprised that DCO-106 was such a CPU hog.

IMO, Arturia has significantly upped their game in the last 5 years. For me it was Buchla Easel V (introduced with V Collection 6 in 2017) that really struck me as being on another level from all their previous analog synth emulations. In V Collection 7 they followed that up with Synthi V, which is similarly impressive.

More recently, they added Jun-6 V, a very respectable Juno-6/60 emulation, and the ground-up rewrite of Jup-8 — which, tellingly, is the first one that's actually good; their original emulation never quite hit the mark, even after two major updates. They also did a great job on OB-Xa V (now renamed OP-Xa V), and unleashed a monster with the new MS-20 V. Even managed to replace their old, crappy Prophet 5 with a pretty decent new version.

I think it's obvious how much they've improved when you compare their recent releases with the older ones. Minimoog V is (quite frankly) really bad. Modular V is not great. SEM V and 2600 V seem kinda okay…until you compare them with bx_oberhausen and Korg's ARP Odyssey plugin.
