Man, FLS is such shite. If I'd known it was budget I'd never buy it.

First they tricked me into paying $149 for - what - a *downloadable* version which didn't even come in a box which I had to move my ass to get?

Then they go ahead and launch a new version, 4, which I got for *free* (wankers)...

Then they trick me into buying a crappy plugin called Sytrus (what, are they all fruits) which soundsjust like a cheap FM synth to me...and I only got it for $75 since I was already a customer...

Then they trick me into buying an XXL package so I get everything the sell that I don't have at a 40% discount...

Then they launch a lot of new versions and refuse to let me pay...

Then they release version 5 and I STILL am not allowed to pay anything...

God damn you gol and image-line, my credit card company is banging on my door and asking why I'm not spending money on pro software instead of crappy BUDGET software.

If you keep on like this I will have to go PRO any day now!!! I'll opt for Logic so I can throw out my dirt cheap PC and get me one of those nice G5 Macs, that will make everyone really happy!

And wow my music will instantly show up on the hitlists!

Ah...as for Adobe Audition...I can't afford that. I use Audacity. Works great with my BUDGET toy FLS.

The reason I use FL is because it’s fun, high quality, easy and powerful, plus integrates well with existing instruments.

I can open FL – and I am off, no hindrance in getting an idea down.

The automation right now in FL is the most powerful that’s its ever been. Amazingly complex automation can be set up both easily and visually.

I just cannot get that speed with other applications – though in some cases due to the whole construction of FL, advanced midi can be a problem (scoring etc), but to be able to use a tool to combat that – like cubase – it’s a nightmare for me to get ideas out fast. FL and Cubase are really very different at most levels.

I prefer FL Studio for what I do. I prefer Audition for Audio recording and editing. Acid does not rate with me at all.

I still need a pen and paper to plan, if I want to do anything of substance – or it just turns into a complete mess with whatever app I use.

I agree with all the above and I suppose most FL users probably have the same feelings. I would also add that FL is definately more stable than Cubase. The one major advantage that Cubase still has over everything else, including FL is handling plugins, all of them. The more sofisticated a plugin gets, the more problem it presents for apps like FL. I have a good number of plugins which have focus issues under FL, but not under Cubase. Mod Wheel support also suffers under FL along with a measure more difficulty setting up multi out plugins. My newest plugin, Stylus RMX works great under FL but for a single thing I've now realized. I can't have the Stylus RMX interface front and center and play a midi channel other than 1. There may be some possible way of "setting it up" to make it work, but it doesn't work straight forward. As soon as you bring the Interface of the Plugin which uses multi outs to the front, then that particular track which it's on gets the focus and midi is sent to that track. FL deals with the extra channels/tracks through the use of it's midi outs. I could click on the midi out which is on channel 2 and play whatever instrument is on that channel, but then, I can't see the interface of the Plugin. If I select the plugin, then it will go back to channel 1 because that's the channel the plugin is on. Cubase doesn't have this problem because it has the "arranger" view where you can choose which midi track/channel you're playing so with the Stylus RMX interface front and center, you could still choose to play any of it's 8 channels and make whatever changes/edits necessary right on the interface. Another thing which Stylus has brought to the surface for me. I like the fact that I can edit all midi parts from all tracks in a single piano roll. It's critical in an app like Stylus which places each part on individual tracks. In FL, you can see the ghost notes, but you can't edit them without switching piano rolls. Still, FL is major powerful and next to Reason, the most stable application I have.

I have a few plug ins that won't open in AA but I never found one that gave me trouble in FL. Really though the argument made here (ok two) that have merit is 1, there's nothing wrong with (and is encouraged by gol himself) to use a different wave editor...and workflow.

2, Truly it doesn't matter as much about how good the software is as much as how good are you with the software. I know I could spend thousands on hi price software, but I doubt my creative results will be better. In fact the learning of new software could be a set back. I find for the needs of me, a long haired rock n roll gi-tar player that FL and AA weigh in at 450 bux combined, and give me what I need. For that price you get pretty much anything you'll need...maybe not everything you want....but it's a powerful combo...
