Jesus, forget about BF and his FTones it was just an example(btw: their 2003 release doesn't sound any better).

aaah. we finally enter the audiophile territory where belief systems and voodoo prevail.

I'm willing to bet mr digris absolute LOVED the pet sounds untill he found out it was done on digital.

It's called the placebo effect.

I understand if someone says that something sounds "woody". But as soon as we get into the "sounds oaky" club, I leave the room.

Good choice, but even crazy people can hear.

Read the quote. It said a good mastering house uses hardware. Is Mark Linett shite? And the version I'm referring to is the CD stereo version or DVD surround edition in which he remixed using the multitrack backing tracks and the vocals were a pretty darn high quality source. In fact, many people would give their right arm to be able to get that sound.
I never said the UAD was all he used. He used it alot though!
There is a bit of an overstatement that it was re-mastered with "just" the UAD-1. Regardless, the original Pet Sounds master tracks would hardly be considered an audiophile source. And, I have the remaster and well, lets just say it sounds like a CD remaster.

Dude, you can say the music sucks. I have no issue with like/dislike genre. But saying that CD sounds like shit is laughable.

I'm on a role. I gotta see if I can get this thread longer than my last efforts on the modular host post.

Dude. There is no objective standard for taste. Shame really, they could give you a kite mark.

I can hardly wait to find out what CD you think is a good benchmark to shoot for.
