Yep, the debate should be on algorithms vs samples pure & simple. No judgement call on either as Iuse both types of instruments, but there is a difference.fuego96 wrote:No need. I wonder if the business people are aware of this, if for no other reason than the attitude you show has lost them at least one potential sale.
I'm done here.

But the point all along was that Rhino had both samples and synthesized oscillators, where as Sytrus had only synthesized oscillators. Besides, algorithm just means a method of performing a task, so sampling is based on algorithms as well.sdv wrote:Yep, the debate should be on algorithms vs samples pure & simple. The debate, if there even is one, is what are the differences between the two synths, whether it be function or sound characteristics, and do the differences warrant a user to get both or stay with just one.

And both Cytrus and Rhino have algorithms (being FM synths), hence there's not much sense in your reasoning. Or are you going to prove that Rhino hasn't got any algorithms ? Hmm ?sdv wrote:Yep, the debate should be on algorithms vs samples pure & simple. No judgement call on either as Iuse both types of instruments, but there is a difference.fuego96 wrote:No need. So it does make sense to compare both or their algorithms (which I tried to do building a feature list). And both Cytrus and Rhino have algorithms

wow 14 pages and counting......
If I would have knew that this would get so way,way ,way out of hand I would never have asked this question.
But the good new is I found a FM synth I liked more than the other, and bought it. But I think I will just keep it to meself what synth that was.

Probably toxic FM which isn't bad at all.I think I will just keep it to meself what synth that was
Operator? That gotta be a joke.

Why would you consider comparing these two as strange ? The idea of comparising is exactly this:fuego96 wrote:
Never said it was a contra point. It's a great point (read "additional feature"). Which makes the comparison between the two a bit strange. They're clearly different in specs and in sound anyway.
Take two ( or more) products or things and asses their similarities and differences. That's the idea.
Hence , I'm able to compare an apple with a Brazilian samba dancer. Do they share any similarities? Are they edible ? Do they taste the same ? Are they really similar ? Which one would be suitable for a steamy dance routine and which one for breakfast. Etc Etc. We will find out when we compare ( oh , I know ,a childish example, but it works,
You can surely compare two completely different things !
However, Cytrus and Rhino ARE NOT completely different. They DO SHARE lot's of similar ideas. So it's not strange at all.
I'm sorry for being anal here, but I'm sick to see comments like - we shouldn't be comparing these - that pop up in threads like this.
Let's compare and learn.
