Agreed, I spent about 2 years tweaking the strings on my song "Tilly" before I was happy enough to release it. (and even then, it isn't overly authentic sounding.

I'm sure that there's many users like you and me that would love to have some "recipies" - that just help to understand how to cook nice dishes oneself.

Sure, you know I am all for that kind of stuff.

 your software
 your sounds
will  your tutorials

The tutorial could also be/contain a list of useful tips and tricks, somehow like this little artcle that I wrote in another forum.
Here's 2 screen shots to show you the MIDI Data for the strings.
Pic String Ensemle: http://24.9.145.185/smf/index.php?actio ... 4.0;id=153

I got a sample named 'string ensemble' playing a 3 part harmony shown in the pic 'string ensemble'.
In a real orchestra we'd have violins, violas and cellos playing different things, which is important for the sound character. I dont't have samples with a small violin section neither do I have that for a viola or cello section.
So the best I could think of, with what I have, is to use my sample 'string section' for a 3 part harmony and add what I have, too - which is solo violin, solo viola and solo contra bass.
That's what the other pic shows, violin notes at the top, below violas and below contra bass.
Pic violin&more http://24.9.145.185/smf/index.php?actio ... 4.0;id=154
The violin and the viola double the notes which are also played by the string ensemble. The contra bass is playing something below, so we got a 4 part harmony.
Below the notes we can see grfical MIDI controler data for (from top to bottom)
Main Volume
Modulation
Velocity
The swell of the main volume fot the 2 longer notes gives the show a little life, as does the modulation.
All 4 instruments (section, violin, viola and bass) are on their own MIDI track. I did put each MIDI track on a different time offset in a range of 12 miliseconds, so that they would not robotically start every note at 100% the same point in time.
What I wrote there may not be a veeery advanced technical level, but might be of help to get going for others, because it gives practical ideas on how to approach things.

Edit: I removed the link to the mp3, because I felt like that would not really belong here, since it's a thread about Philharmonik.

As I have been saying, Philharmonik will be THE library to beat under a thousand dollars, if only for things like squids mentioned.

Btw, I know Kevin and he is just hosting for the originator of the idea of lessening the machine gun effect. The techniques there though do work nicely for the EWQLSO Gold. I had already been doing something similar myself with it. Interested people should also check out Kevin's music on ACID Planet http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?aid=163897&t=9622 (kauai Symphony Orkester). He's really in the avant garde of orchestral writing. Great stuff imho.

I have been listening to the various demos of the Miroslav repeatedly, and I find them to be very musical with nothing that stands out shouting "midi orchestra". The legatos and different bowings sound quite good and I was not expecting that. Good work squids! :D

This is just so much library for not very much money.

Kevin sounds like a good guy. I will check out his stuff.

Thanks for the comments about the demos. I wish I had time to work on them further and to do more of them. I have to squeeze it in. I am doing a ton of riff demos this weekend. That should be fun! Those are a lot faster than doing a whole orchestra. Although man... you should hear these full orchestra patches!!! Woooooooh! They sound so good with little effort. I did an in house demonstration the other day playing it live and you can't help but come up with music that you could almost just abandon everything else you are doing and start writing! That's a sign of a good and useful product in my opinion and that is ultimately what we're always going for.

For anyone reading this that haven't pre-ordered yet, here is the link for your convenience. ;) http://www.esoundz.com/details/viewDeta ... ductID=543

Get it at the good price while it is around. It was cheap in the first place but $399 for the regular version and $319 for the crossgrade (if you already own ST2) is hard to pass up for a classy orchestra and choir collection in a beautiful plug-in that has a stunning high quality built-in reverb.

Don't forget that you can get $5 worth of epointz by using harmonygardens as a referrer, too.

Have you not exceeded your quota? You know you have to start spending them once it reaches the $50 limit for it to replenish again. ;) You and Tele just rack them up! But, good for you. You deserve it for all of your support.

What happened to ATSBILL? He used to be an epointz junky. I hope he's alright.

LOL,,, no I am not full, I prepaid for Philharmonik, and that wiped me out,,, I think I was the first one, because the prepay page wasnt even up when I did it. I did pretty well with the Capsules GB, but I was all over that one, and we just made the lowest price. That was fun! I miss ATSBILL, too. You out there buddy??

I love this plug-in. It really ties the room together.

Not before August. Figure you at least have the Summer at this introductory price.

So when it is expected to ship?
