The All In One Source Bitwig Information & Speculation Thread

Thanks Thomas. Re the inspector here's one last try to clarify. In Logic/Cubase you pretty much need the inspector if you want to mix anything in the arrange view. The inspector is kind of like a glorified channel strip in them (as far as a remember) to make up for lack of controls on the track itself. In Bitwig it's not like that because you have easy access to all track's vital controls on each track in the arrange and your fx view.
If you are talking about the info view as a whole, then yes it is vital. But if we are talking about just the track view portion of it, I think it is fair to say it is mostly redundant stuff or stuff that you don't really need to access constantly, like track color (unless something has changed since I saw it last). Of course some may find it comes in handy but still.
Maybe it's a pointlessly subtle distinction... But the guy asked if it had a track inspector "like Cubase" so I just meant to say that one probably wouldn't be using the info view in the same way that you would the cubase inspector. Does that make sense, or am I missing something?

My ignorance of the current Cubase is wide and deep and Logic baffled me each time I tried to get anything done with it.
Cubase almost succeeded in me throwing in the towel with making music altogether since everything was so friggin complicated and hidden and spread over 10 windows or in some insert channel or other...
Up came the saviour: Live 4
Suddenly stuff made sense, I was able to SEE what I was doing and wasn't looking at a sorry try to copy a hardware device or whatever the idea may have been behind Cubase' layout...
I'm only half serious here, but it actually was like that with me.
Cheers,
Tom

That's easy ... noMuziksculp wrote:Will the last beta they released be the final beta before they finally release it ?
Obviously more betas will follow the release.

From what I've read it's kitten based.Kriminal wrote:i know nothing about BW, but i read somewhere it is pattern based...true?

One big question:
Can I create bus and send automation inside a clip or can I do these kinds of automations just inside the arrangement? Or is there another possibility that these kinds of automations follow my arranging process of dragging&dropping clip groups from the arranger into the arrangement? This is really important for me, because I use alot of bus automation, as example a filter or the volume of a bus.

I won't be surprised if they don't release it in 2013, given they might still have a few more beta versions they will be handing out to beta testers.SJ_Digriz wrote:That's easy ... noMuziksculp wrote:Will the last beta they released be the final beta before they finally release it ?

There is no concept of bus vs. sends in BWS to my knowledge?crazyfiltertweaker wrote:One big question:

What you have is effect-tracks as they call it, same system as in Live, where it's called return track.
Each track has send levels to every existing effect track, again the same as in Live. And those can be automated the same as everything else, so it can be either clip or arrangement based.
I never tried what happens if you drag a clip from the clip launcher area with complex non-linear automation to the arrangement, but the alternative would be to just record it to the arrangement - in that case your resulting automation should be correct including non-linear automation like different-loop-lenghts etc.
"From the arranger to the arrangement" huh?
But my advise still stands: Try it out when it's released, only then you will know if it works for you.
Cheers,
Tom
