It's like Sweet Honey in the Rock, only instead of being a musical group it's a vegetable.

MSBR 'Collapseland'

I'm probably the only one here who cares, but Koji Tano (of MSBR and Magmax) died yesterday of stomach cancer, aged 44. For those unfamiliar, Koji was one of the second-generation giants of the Japanese noise scene, released a ton of music in various formats as MSBR and as a member of Magmax, was a tireless organiser and networker, and was many people's first and friendliest contact in this small yet thriving scene. He was also a manga artist, though he only saw a small part of his work in this field published. MSBR's crushing wall of noise, like Merzbow's, manages to tap into a post-human territory of pure absolute volume that seems to have more in common with the unstoppable forces of nature than any form of music.

Although his website had been neglected over the years, much now historical info can be found at http://www.msbr.com

that sucks.

I had never heard much, I think only a split...(with Sudden Infant???). But thought it was solid stuff.

It is always hard when such niche scenes (if you will) lose people. Especially the helpful friendly ones.
