The following post is one I just made to the a gearslutz thread I think everyone here will be interested in:

@adl I think I found the reason for the "high muffling". It's think it's because I didn't take enough care with the low pass filters post envelope follower. The filter I was using was an allpole design which are great for low frequencies, but up high they just don't cut it. I've solved some equations with the help of a good friend of mine Antti Huovilainen and come up with the following design, which is the best tradeoff between amplitude response and phase response. I'll add this new filter code to the v1.0.12 for everyone to check out. The following is a graph at sample rate 44100:

For v1.1 I have quite a few ideas for different sidechain filtering options which should please.

WOHOO!!
Andy you are brilliant

Really interested in how the glue sounds with the new filter. It's so nice to see how an already good product gets better and better and better.
Thanx so much for your afford!
Very nice how you are looking into what your customers are asking (complaining) about. :tu: :tu: :tu:

That's funny, I used Glue with sidechain feed and had top-end rolled off in the sidechain. Did this trick sometimes with other comp plugins that allow sidechain.

That's interesting. Do you find this helps make the top end sound clearer and more open?

Filtering the sidechain input like this will be similar to but not quite the same as what is going on in The Glue since the filter here is post enveloper follower on the control signal going to the sidechain vca and not on the sidechain input signal The signal flow is:

sidechain input -> vca -> hp filter -> ratio shaper -> envelope follower -> lp filter -> control signal for both sidechain and main amp vca.

adl, all I can say is thanks for your great ears and all your help making The Glue better :) In my experience there are very few complaining customers without reason. You can "complain" to me any time about my products and if I can't give you a very good reason why something is the case then the fault lies with me.

IMO yes. But that highly depends on what you feed the comp. Often times I don't have problem with top-end being a tiny bit dull, as I can add a bit of EQ to counter this and in some cases this character is working for me.

Wow, can't wait to hear the update! That is probably quite different effect.

For my tastes Glue is perfect in smoothing the high end and making it sound less digital. Most of the time my digital mixes are coming out a bit shrill in the high end and Glue counters this nicely!

Please, just release the doggone thing already.

Hi! Any info on when .012 update would be available? Finishing album in next couple of weeks with The Glue all over it, and wish to try updated version

I've just released v1.0.12 to all existing customers.

Edit: it's going to take a few more hours work to get the trial version up and running, so I'll do it tomorrow night.

Got mine, thanks Andy! :hyper:

Apart from bugs fixes here are a few highlights in this version:
* 80 presets which automatically create themselves in the "Factory Bank 1" folder of your presets folder
* Mac Rtas version
* Au now supports mono and stereo operation
* Any single Mac copy can be renamed to .vst .component or .dpm and it will work as a vst au or rtas respectively so you only need to download it once

I'm afraid the trial version will have to wait till tomorrow night as I'm way too tired to finish it off tonight.

Andy,

Just as a heads up: the link to the beta site in your e-mail is incorrect. The right link is: http://www.cytomic.com/Beta/The_Glue_Beta_Info.html

The link in the e-mail is missing the "/Beta/"

Anyway, I hope now that the RTAS is done The Glue will officially leave beta and the site will go live. It's a great product and I want you to do well with it so we can get more.

w00t! RTAS for OSX!!!
