Wow, I had no idea. :? I was kinda wondering there was so many bonuses to choose from thou...

Too bad the ones I got are not available as a bonus for you guys, but those listed above are great too. I would go for the r.a.w. packs as they work in so many ways with other software, like Stylus RMX (gonna buy it soon). The world grooves specially, I've been toying around with the ST version and it's MIDI quantizing the living s**t out of world loops. heheh.. That would be great to have in other formats too.
I raise my hand in favor of the World R.A.W pack. I have played around with it more (in Logic) and it is a great set of loops. Plus you can slice and dice them as you need- or just process the snot out of them get some great rhytmic effects to layer.

I will also be saving up for RMX (so the family can be complete!!! :) )

I read on an earlier post that there is an "extra" included for those who already have ST before the GB purchse, that is what my question was referring to. Is this still the case?
I believe that was only a rumour and that there is no such extra.

Ummmmm. Which ones do you have? The coloured ones or the greyed out ones?

Which Xpansion 2 instrument packs have the least overlap with Sonik Synth 2?

I'm not sure that any of them have much overlap, but every pack may have a small few of the same presets added to pep up the collection.

I have 3x6=18 packs, still missing the ones grayed out. If the group buy continues at this pace, we hit 7x1 in 3 days, crazy!

I play electric guitar myself so I'm doubtful about the electric guitar instrument pack... And I'm a little suspicious about construction kits in general.. Perhaps I shouldn't be?

I've been reading this thread since beginning, but I forgot what people said about the omni xpansion, is it a best-of or are there instruments I don't already have in it?

Maybe I should go all out on the hip hop ones? That is mainly what I produce, but I have a fair share of samples in that genre already, having produced hiphop albums since 1999 I have stacked up pretty much "everything I need" for that. How are the hiphop instruments and loops? Does someone have any input on those? I don't produce modern hip-pop, more the oldschool hiphop for me.

We crossed the 4000 mark about 29 hours ago. Since then we've added 341 registrations! I'm curious to see where this goes, but 7X1 looks more and more like a possibility... dare I say probability?

Being that you produce old school hip hop I'd go with the Omnisynth 2 pack which has a bit of everything. The Hip Hop Instruments have guitars and an orchestral section but you may not get much use out of the synths and the drum samples.

That's not to say the Hip Hop pack isn't great though for anyone else wondering! I've only had a limited time to spend with the packs but hope that helps a bit.

Looks like we might just reach 7x1!

Based on that, I would go for these 6:

SampleArp Solo
Multi-sampled Arp® Synthesizer Instruments

SampleOB Xpander
Multi-sampled Oberheim® Synthesizer Instruments

Out of these 2, which is better?

For those who already own SampleTank XL and Sonik Synth 2...

There seems to be some overlap here with the drums. Does anyone know just how much? I suspect that I may already have plenty of this stuff (from Acoustic Drums 2 and Electronic Drums packs) and should grab something else :?

Thx,

Jesse, I would definitely grab the electric guitar pack. I also play electric guitar, but there are so many awesome virtual guitars that sound great. At the very least you can use them to mock up an arrangement before you start recording real guitar... and often times you will probably consider keeping and using sections of the virtual guitar (which you can double with real guitar) or you might be very appreciative of using the sound of the virtual guitar as reference for dialing in a similar kind of amp sound on your real guitar. Definitely wouldn't miss it. :-)

As for the construction kits, I think you might find many of them useful if you produce Hip Hop music. There are bound to be lots of loops and sounds which may be similar to what you already have at your disposal, but may be different enough that you will be happy to use them or be inspired by them. Every loop in the Construction Kit comes in Loop Slice format as well.

If Hip Hop is your type of music, should you really skip the Hip Hop instruments? Most of it may not be stuff that you need, but can you ever really have enough to choose from. Just a couple great new instruments would make the selection worthwhile.

No?

That's a tough call! I like them together. If I had to pick though I would probably go with the Oberheim. Did you listen to the samples here: http://www.ikmultimedia.com/xpansiontank/multisamples/ ? If not, click the "Read More" button and check out the sound clips at the bottom...

I'm guessing the first.
