Is there any possibilty to help a curious fanboy with his two major questions, please?

Really, I must decide before christmas if bitwig or Ableton and I need the mentioned features for my producing workflow!

to rememeber the questions:

One big question:
Can I create bus and send automation inside a clip or can I do these kinds of automations just inside the arrangement? Or is there another possibility that these kinds of automations follow my arranging process of dragging&dropping clip groups from the arranger into the arrangement? This is really important for me, because I use alot of bus automation, as example a filter or the volume of a bus.

Would it help if I told you BW would NOT be out before Xmas? :)

Just a extra "Thanks You Thomas!!!"

No he cant take a hint :hihi:

They will launch a few days before Christmas and you will be able to test it yourself,or you will not be able to get Bitwig anyway, so relax. It is clear you will not get the answer before you try it.

Like Epicurus said: "Death does not bother me. If I am alive death as nothing to do with me, if I am dead, worries have nothing to do with me!"*

There is no concept of bus vs. sends in BWS to my knowledge?

What you have is effect-tracks as they call it, same system as in Live, where it's called return track.

Each track has send levels to every existing effect track, again the same as in Live. And those can be automated the same as everything else, so it can be either clip or arrangement based.
I never tried what happens if you drag a clip from the clip launcher area with complex non-linear automation to the arrangement, but the alternative would be to just record it to the arrangement - in that case your resulting automation should be correct including non-linear automation like different-loop-lenghts etc.

"From the arranger to the arrangement" huh?

But my advise still stands: Try it out when it's released, only then you will know if it works for you.

Cheers,

Tom
Thanks again Tom for your patience and time - i agree with the other posters above, BWS should hire you to do PR. :)

And if you're getting bored this week and think "what i'd i'd really love to do now is answering some random dude's questions about a software that will probably released within the next months and he could easily check out the demo then" i can help you out:

How does BW handle multiple out instruments/effects? Routing audio outs to separate tracks in Live is a bit inconvenient, that is something FL handled a lot easier:

AND I NEED THE ANSWER NOW, GODDAMMIT! OR ELSE IT RUINS MY PRODUCTION WORKFLOW! GET ON WITH IT!

I have a decision to make, and these questions are the final ones, the final ones before the last boss(the decision for bitiwg or ableton), so please help me!

I really need the answers!
You cannot buy Bitwig yet, so you really don't have this immediate choice that you think you do.

Bitwig may not even be available by christmas. And even if it is, it will likely have a variety of issues that will require some months of bug updates to address. That is how 1.0 releases of complex software go.

I have Live and a Push and they are a sweet combo. If you need something production ready now, there it is.

Woah, there is a good chance Bitwig will be out before christmas. Might as well wait and if it's not out by the time you need then go with Live.

Welcome Thomas :tu:

No, thank you for being so uncommonly patient during the onslaught of "You gotta tell me everything I need to know right now or the world as I know it will cease to exist!!!!!" questions. :hihi:

You have the patience of a saint. You must be a Buddhist. :hihi:

Pretty impressive actually.

+1 - you are the best thing BW have going for them right now IMO.

For what it is worth, no one will buy V1 of a brand new DAW for their main/only 'production' system. Even when it comes out (my guess Feb next year) it will take a while to stabilise and get user feedback - Live has had 9 versions and everyone still wants more stuff adding! BWS looks like interesting software with some great features, but don't expect the holy grail (or the Spanish inquisition for beta testers!) peoples seem to be making great 'productions' without it.

Post

True. It will be a 1.0 that - and there's no real doubt in my mind, mmv as usual - will be exceptional at some things and truly suck at some other things... like every other 1.0 ever created... mostly depending on what you're trying to do with it at any given moment.

Like everything else in the real world, it will take a few years or more to flesh it all fully out into something much more well rounded.

The proposed 2.x stuff looks pretty intriguing.

P.S. Given that it's been in beta for so long, it might be a little bit better overall than a typical 1.0... so there's also that perspective that probably shouldn't go unmentioned.

NOBODY expects the spanish inquisition - because our chief weapon is surprise. Surprise And Fear.

I wonder what they are gonna charge for upgrades. Would they reveal that stuff at launch or would we have to wait until the next version to find out?
