I suppose patch sheets could be implemented before that becomes necessary though
XHip--Please finish your synth!!

A bit of a backward step but yes remove anything that stops users creating patches that can't be faithfully reproduced by others who load them up.

It sounds good ad. Appreciate your work. I'll see about some sounds and graphics. I think aquar was being flippant(maybe the pot calling the kettle black).
I wonder what I want in here

aquar, my time is worth $22/h with a minimum fee of $3500. we can write a contract for work to be done if you like, or you can just write it yourself.
the idea that my question regarding whether anyone has enjoyed using something i offer free or not translates into an entitlement for someone who does absolutely nothing of value to receive answer to their demands.. without words.
aquar, i'm genuine in this. send me a cheque for $3500usd and i can begin working for you to get these features implemented. it will take a lot more than $3500 in order to complete the project, i'll be able to offer a quote after one month of work.
(note you'll be bidding against others for my time, so the price may increase.)

http://xhip.cjb.net/xhip/todo/
i've updated the todo list with some guesses at timing labeled as (nd?).
i'll need this much in days, 8-10 hours per day to do these things and i haven't bothered guessing at the bigger stuff after [0.7.0.0].
the issue is just that where the hell do i get for example 60 ten hour days? that ends up being spread out over years especially when i don't devote 100% of my free time to the project. i'll be a little burnt out since i'm writing commercial code now, it makes writing free code a lot less fun.

Sorry AD but you've priced yourself out of the game.aciddose wrote:aquar, my time is worth $22/h with a minimum fee of $3500. we can write a contract for work to be done if you like, or you can just write it yourself.
snip
There's absolutely no way that I would hand over 3500 usd to implement the said features or the additional $22 an hour that you are asking, not a chance in hell especially given the current downturn in the economic climate
I mean why should I? when I have freeware synths like Helix sat on my drive
which in imo blasts your synth out of the water on just about every level.
I've had a feeling for a long while that you aren't committed to xhip anymore
and truth be told I can't say I blame you especially when we've seen a plethora of freeware and low cost commercial synths released over the past few years that supercede your offering. (imo)
It must surely be a very bitter pill for you to swallow and I feel your pain I really do.
I wish you every success with your commercial projects and at least understand why you've lost interest.
Anyway I am off to smoke a big fat one so cya later.

They're completely different sounding synths. Helix cannot currently reach the levels of 'analogue' realism in sound that XHIP attains.aquar wrote: I mean why should I? when I have freeware synths like Helix sat on my drive

'analogue' realism? ha that old chestnut. If I wanted analogue realism I'd go on ebay and purchase the real macoy but that's just me I am kind of weird like that. Anyway that's a mute point as far as I am concerned but go on please feed my insatiable curiosity and explain exactly how xhip offers out of the box 'analogue 'realism where other synths such as helix somehow fail.?D.J.T. wrote: They're completely different sounding synths. Same here on the analogue front, who wouldn't want an arsenal of hardware to produce polyphony with?
Don't get me wrong, I think Helix is a great sounding synth too...but if I'm looking for synth to produce a sound that sits well in a mix and fills out a certain frequency range with a warm sound, XHIP is my choice

if aciddose used his precious time to finish the branis gui instead of answering trolls like aquar and AQ by now we would be all making music with this synth.
now i moved on to oatmeal which is damn good...i miss that perfect xhip filter...but a usable GUI is more important

it takes about two minutes to answer something like this, but it will take about a week or two (complete days, about 15 of them) to finish the gui work to a reasonable level. i can do a quick-and-dirty implementation, maybe i'll try that today. i'll have "free" time through until newyear only i have about 15 things i'm working on and xhip is the least productive of them all. (the others make me money or are requirements for me, xhip is a toy.. also would you rather spend time with women, or with xhip?if aciddose used his precious time to finish the branis gui instead of answering trolls like aquar and AQ by now we would be all making music with this synth.

That probably depends on if you're gay or not aciddose. Maybe you can just be gay for a while until Xhip is done.aciddose wrote:also would you rather spend time with women, or with xhip?)

be careful what you wish for, i might come knocking on your door, buddy
i'm going to try to arrange the branis source in it's current state so that somebody else can add all the knobs and stuff. i think it'll take about ten hours to add everything for somebody who does it. it'll take me two or three hours today just to set up the code for you - i've already put in one hour so far.

I knew about xhip a while back but downloaded it recently and I'm really impressed! Nothing but encouragement from me, and no demands!
