You can save presets in a seperate folder. I save mine on my desktop. Of course, when you import them they will all be co-mingled with every other 3rd party preset you have. (It's a clicky thing at the top the VST. Export Preset.)

Like many others, I think the sound engine is fantastic—plenty of depth and character. I actually enjoy the patching area, and with a few more enhancements, the workflow could be even better. The GUI isn’t perfect but it’s workable.

But the preset management/browser is where things really fall short:
  • Still no way to create third-party banks
  • User presets all get dumped into a single folder, which makes it a headache to keep track of what’s finished vs. what’s still in progress (I end up using Komplete Kontrol to organize, which is its own kind of pain)
I’ve managed to release two banks so far and I’d have made a lot more banks for Massive X if the preset system was less of a hassle. It's neither friendly to the preset designers and users.

NI, if you're reading this. Please add proper 3rd party preset support.
I really appreciate your effort, but you would have a better chance to be heard if you posted It in the official NI Massive X forum

If I want only to do standard downward compression I set the "Down" slider for more than 100% (ratio) and use the grey handlebar for setting the threshold. Right?

On which sounds do you use upward compression?
It's basically just to squash the shit out of a sound, but instead of only squashing the top peaks like a compressor, it also pushes the lower parts of the signal separately.

In theory you can squash the tops less, and get a better overall sound. In reality it's just used to squash the shit out of things even more.

Think anything hyped EDM.

NI, if you're reading this. Please add proper preset support.
People have been asking for that since before COVID.
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

I use this to make all my own and third party patches into discrete banks (with a thumbnail) - works with Komplete Kontrol, Maschine and Massive X (it was me who suggested to the dev to add Massive X support as the file format is just a variant of KK's .nksf)

https://www.doobox.co.uk/apps/mac/nksf_ ... anker.html

Have done it with Spektralisk's banks amongst others

It shouldn't be necessary - honestly I've been trying to persuade NI to address this since day one but after so long you just have to do what works

They thought that everybody would just get onboard and do the Komplete Kontrol shuffle...

But it doesn't quite work like that...

But....

A decline in sales and the subsequent hit to the bottom line may be enough to shake them up and dislodge some of the ear wax that has built up over the years
No auto tune...

From time to time when I need a more unusual sound I'll load up Massive X because I know there are cool sounds in there. I'll do my best to ignore the clusterfck of a UI and don't get too annoyed by the browser that finally supports arrow keys now, but still wants you to hit enter to load presets... because we don't want to make it too easy, right?

More often than not I'll find a sound I Iike but still end up loading another synth because some quirky design choice keeps me from adjusting the sound to fit in the song. Maybe that's user error sometimes but the UI doesn't help in that regard.
A few days ago I've found a cool sound but after wasting my time with reading the manual and googling I finally had to ditch it because apparently there is no way to set LFO phase in this *checks notes* next generation synthesizer.

I just want the step sequencer back or at the least some premade envelope types like OG Massive.

I just uninstalled...

I’d take a better lfo over the preset browser, neither will get fixed/updated.

Post

I'll just be happy if they keep the preset the same kind of file. It was really crappy to do away with Batch Convert in OG Massive considering the huge amounts of third party presets I'd collected over the years.

This turns out to be an intentional design decision Mike Daliot made, waveforms in the Switcher LFO are phase-corrected in Uni Z mode. There was quite some psychoacoustic research involved in this, in fact.

There were other LFO modules designed but not implemented (sigh), Switcher LFO was supposed to be a very simple affair where the user was not supposed to care or think about the phases.
