7 and 2 - although neither made the threshold to list at 1% of the respondants. Numbers are shown in brackets []hibidy wrote:interesting resurrection. No protools users? No DP?
That is a bit odd.
Those that can, do. Those that can't, argue about it on k-v-r

But you feel inferior knowing that your host isn't relevant to make a KVR poll, right?deaf dunderkwac wrote:none of the ones on the poll

maybe a few years ago I would feel slighted, since my host's forum is on this site but nowadays I could give a crap.koolkeys wrote:But you feel inferior knowing that your host isn't relevant to make a KVR poll, right?deaf dunderkwac wrote:none of the ones on the poll

Funny thing is every time I preview other, possible hosts they apparently lack the tools and workflow my host offers that makes (for me) such a simple task of composing either simple or complex tunes.
Every year I review the latest offerings (and have suffered through many reaper demos) but until I find something remotely close to what I already use I'll stick with it until it no longer runs on the hardware
I really hate wading through what I deem 'dinosaur' daw's with 150 different ways to accomplish a single simple task, all of which are hidden in sub-sub-sub menus right click-left click ad nauseum and half of which are "beatures" of some sort that get "un-beatured" in the next sometimes expensive update and in the end have sort of half-assed support for midi or parameter controls. IMO of course
-but what I use is comparatively too simple yet it has, with a single click, access to the power features I'm used to using and are what I deem to be the most important for working with midi and samples and such.
-all on the main window
most of that list represents my dislikes although I haven't tried everything- or the current versions of everything- but it's been my experience that unless the developer forgoes older code that created feature locks there's no need for me to review that app. as it just added more crap (er... features) to the same thing.
these opinions of mine are specifically based on composing music using mainly midi, softsynths and samples...
Although my host works as well as others for recorded instruments, I am no longer able to play guitar and I have no room for a real piano or trap set.
end of not a rant, just a frustration

another vote for SawStudio. I'd hate to see the best and most popular not even be on the list....Tried to demo Reaper but when choosing where my VST instruments were kept (in SAwStudio VST_Plugin) it crashed the rascal..So much for 90$ softwarre.

Sawstudio, best and most popular? Saying it's the best is fine. That's your opinion based on your own needs and what you like in a host("best" doesn't exist). But most popular? Where do you get that from?acousticglue wrote:another vote for SawStudio. And I don't use Reaper, but I've used it enough over the years when new versions come out. Can't say it's ever crashed just by selecting the plug-in path. It may have crashed because it started scanning that path and found a bad plug-in or one that it wasn't compatible with, perhaps even a Sawstudio plug-in. I have no idea.
There are other apps at $90 or less that don't crash when selecting a plug-in folder. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss apps because they are cheap, if that is what you are doing. If not, then never mind.
