LEAVE MARKUS ALONE !!!

Thanks
I find KVR useful and enjoyable... you just gotta accept some noise and not worry much about the opinions of others.MaxSynths wrote:Wow now I understand their decision to leave KVR... wise choice ever.
I think I'll do the same very soon.
This place is slowly dying because of ignorance and useless trolling. The total lack of interest or competence for music and synthesizers is killing these forums, really. What a shame!
I see your point. What I see here, though, is a lot of give-and-take, with people blowing off steam, making mistakes, engaging in sometimes pointless but frequently fun discussions... to me, KVR is a wonderful source of information and a plethora of interesting points of view. It helps a lot if you don't take yourself too seriously - which also means not entering the ring every time a provocative statement is tossed around carelessly. From what I've seen in my time here, Tone2 and Markus in particular have been overly sensitive. The best way to ignore people who are flame-baiting is to IGNORE them, instead of replying to them or storming off in a petulant frenzy (FZ).MaxSynths wrote:Wow now I understand their decision to leave KVR... wise choice ever.

Well to be fair, they had most of it coming and left most likely for greater control/sensorship.MaxSynths wrote:Wow now I understand their decision to leave KVR... wise choice ever.
+1 -- customers are just as important as developers, after all.Echoes in the Attic wrote:To put it in perspective though, do ever see this kind of sentiment towards Camel Audio or U-He or Rob Papen many others? No. So come on. I say forgive and move on, but don't pretend like devs don't reap what they sow.
This is exactly it.Echoes in the Attic wrote:To put it in perspective though, do ever see this kind of sentiment towards Camel Audio or U-He or Rob Papen many others? No. So come on. True but there's a limit and democracy must have some rules... for example in this specific thread things like the "spyware" inside Tone2 products or the need to discuss if Markus is a kind person are clearly off topic. Concerning the spyware thing it's something that has been discussed and solved here (it was only a case of paranoid), and any attempt to understand if Markus helps old womans to cross the road it's useless (as far as I know he could also worship Satan or smoke plutonium, but I'm not asking to someone to provide his DNA to understand if he can produce a good instrumentIn the spirit of true democracy, I also think it's interesting and informative to read about bad experiences people have had with a company
It happened to me with a 100% legit licensed copy downloaded from Tone2's link. I couldn't get it to work correctly and got an email directly from the developer telling me to alter my firewall. As soon as I gave the plug in permission to bypass my firewall it worked perfectly. I think it's since changed, but this is the way the software shipped. So maybe it suspected I was using a cracked version. So what difference does that make? Calling home is calling home regardless.Gamma-UT wrote:I remember testing this on OS X and Windows with Gladiator the last time this blew up - it was just after AiR released a crack. I couldn't find any evidence of it phoning home (unless you hit the button that is designed to send you to the home page).DrGonzo wrote:But that's easily filtered out by using a firewall no? While I'm no fan of background internet connections - Tone2 is in good company. I don't know how many rules my firewall has to block all that shit. From all kinds of developers. My opinion - it's rubbish, but I'm used to it.zerocrossing wrote:Tone2 is a company who's software accesses your web connection without your permission to make sure you're not pirating their software.
However, there was, allegedly, a piece of code that, if it suspected that it was in a cracked version would make a connection. IIRC it was to send you to a page to encourage you to buy the software. The thread on here (which unmasked a warez user in the process) was moved to HPC, I think, and ultimately deleted. In some ways that was a shame because it was quite instructive in the level of detail devs need to get into to harden their products against cracks and yet still be able to use keyfiles or serials rather than C/R or dongles. I'm not very anti-dongle, but I applaud Tone2 and U-he among others for sticking with convenient copy-protection methods.
Which came first; the user or the dev?dhalfen wrote:+1 -- customers are just as important as developers, after all.Echoes in the Attic wrote:To put it in perspective though, do ever see this kind of sentiment towards Camel Audio or U-He or Rob Papen many others? Yin-yang and the whole kettle o' fish, ya know?
100% not true.MaxSynths wrote: Concerning the spyware thing it's something that has been discussed and solved here (it was only a case of paranoid)
