I tried to get used to Pro-Q ... no real dice. It looks beautiful and I wanted to like it. Sounds "fab" too as the name might imply. Just never really clicked and I found myself using Logic or Live's built in EQs.
But, when I installed EQuality and started using it I was instantly using. Equality might just be the meth of equalizers. Better check my teeth. Anyway, I fell in use with this EQ and I'm loving it. The sound is amazing,
EQuality gets my vote hands down.

I've never used Pro-Q so can't comment. But since I got Equality I've repeatedy used it first on tracks, quickly dialled in something close to what I want, then switched it off and tried to beat the results with other nice plugs (Gliss EQ, Waves V-EQ and RenEQ, two different DDMF eqs, and both of Bootsy's.) Try as I might, for tracks, I usually can't seem to get a better result. Might have to do with my lack of skill, dunno... but for me it's the go-to EQ. It's the best EQ I've ever bought.
(Though increasingly I find use for a surpsingly great yet inexpensive, low-key contender, DDMF's 6144 EQ... I am surpised not to hear more people talking about it)

Same here with Pro-Q, it's kind of wrong workflow, allthough I don't particularly like Equick either, EQuality is my go-to EQ. Good to have options.ttoz wrote:Tried equick, spent a hell of a lot of time with it, it just feels like it's been implemented "wrong".

Cool. I like them both, not sure I would claim one is better in terms of sound. They are both very good digital EQ's.

There are a number of EQ's out there that are, IMO, in a close race for being the "best" in terms of sound quality, but all of them are so closely grouped that none of them sticks out tremendously.
I've heard an impressive endorsement of the UAD-2 Massive Passive (by none other than ace producer/engineer Michael Brauer, and if you've seen his studio, you know this guy knows hardware. He said he couldn't tell the difference between the UAD and the real thing). Sadly, though, I don't have a UAD-2, just a 1.
All that said, though, the Algorithmix Blue stays in my mind because of a number of extremely sexy reviews/reports I've read from people about it, making it seem almost like something handed down to mundane plug-in land from some higher power. I could demo it by making the request, but it would be pointless since I'm not currently in a position to buy it.

However, I really liked pro q, the only reason I sold it is I wanted a new guitar (that's what I spent the money on with all the stuff I sold) and since I used reaper 97.3% of the time, their q is good enough.
God, it's amazing how point I still am
Other than that MM eq that ttoz likes, I'm not super interested in q's. Besides, I also have mixcontrol which is a good eq. I've been fortunate financially though since I posted this so I'm open

I finally made my decision recently on which one of these 2 to purchase after demoing both of them.... about 2 years back when EQuality was launched. Yes I can be slow sometimes
It probably took that long simply because they are both really great eq's, its definitely not a night n day difference here.
But in the end I had to go for the Pro-Q. I always loved its inteface and I just felt that its sound just had the teeniest intsy wintsy edge over Equalitys Digital/Digital+ modes. But I had to do a LOT of testing at the time.
EQualitys Analog Phase mode sounds even better but, as a high latency option I already have the DDMF LP10 eq, who's minimum phase setting sounds just as good imho. So the very slightly better no latency mode + GUI of Pro-Q won it over for me in the end.
You can't go wrong with either though, they both offer a classic minimum phase style and linear phase mode, they both have low cpu hit on no latency mode, they both have great GUIS.
