I think the Wigs psychological marketing ploy is working. Whenever I see anything bright orange, I subconciously think "Bitwig Studio".

Slicing an orange for a snack?... Bitwig Studio. Looking at my honey's tangerine flavored editable pa... erhm... well... you get the idea. "Bitwig Studio".

It's underhanded brainwashing I tell ya. :hihi: The sneaky bastards.

Funny, that's not working here

Think Ableton are still looking for staff that can program in 64bit after some left to work on Bitwig Studio.

So what kind of incompetent fools Ableton has working for them now? How is it even possible they can't "port" Live to 64 bits? It's full of x86 assembler code...? The OS-X version is Carbon-based, so they'd need to port the GUI portions into Cocoa...?

And about Bitwig : I again strongly believe it's just a scam and vaporware...

In theory, this is wonderful, but in practice it's something entirely different.

When was the first time we heard of bitwig? And where is the product? I mean, if it takes YEARS to develop something, would it not have been wiser to mention it, not have all the price leaks and yak of "public beta" and so on wait?

just sayin'
Agreed. I was very excited when I first heard about the project in January. Now, the excitement among the public is dying down obviously. This does not necessarily mean they f**ked up though. As wary as I am now, as I suspect many are, I'll still try the product when (if?) it comes out. From a Bitwig marketing standpoint, that's mission accomplished. They know damn well that they're tapping into a market that's full of people eager to switch DAWs. I think that's part of the reason they think they can afford the wait.

They need to be very careful though. As time passes and teasers are released, expectations are rising beyond reason. People seem to think it will be the answer to all their Ableton gripes and problems. Back in reality, the product probably won't be anywhere near usable for at least a year as bugs are ironed out in the beta. They only have one chance and can't afford to blow it, seeing as they've invested several years and loads of money into the project. That is why they're working overtime before even starting the beta, I think.

Anyway, here's a cat to improve the cat/content ratio:

People always want to know when the next big thing will come but that's something no one can promise. Thank goodness the software company I work for never fell into that trap. When something was ready for beta we'd release it to private beta where we'd know that users would be giving us the right type of feedback rather then someone who just wants to downloaded it because it's new. Then we'd move to a public beta. Get the last kinks out and generate interest. Then we'd release it.

No pre release hype. No vaporware it's ready when it's ready. That gives us a chance to work out more bugs, and add features.
