Seriously... if I can't come up with something cool with what I have, it's me... not the equipment. I just bought the L9 update from the app store, and I'm reminded how good some of the content is that comes with Logic. With that and my core faves... I just need more time. Not equipment!

That pretty much sums me up perfectly. I have more than is necessary and only grab something new when the demo inspires me in a very good way.zerocrossing wrote:There should have been an option "I'm happy with my current arsenal and I'll still get something if I like it."![]()
I've clearly got more than enough instruments and effects, both hardware and software, to keep me busy and happy for the rest of my life, but yet when I demo a new synth or effect that makes me happy, I feel compelled to get it.
I will say though that I'm far pickier than I used to be. I should probably go though my vsts and get rid of a lot of it. It's hard when that's work and they don't take up any physical space.

The more I have, the more difficult it is...to make good music. Sometimes I wish I would have only one kick drum sample and one snare sample, and then I could make a beat instantly instead of searching weeks for the perfect sound...
The more I have, the more I believe that in less lyes the key of making good music!

The thing that's difficult is that shit doesn't work.
Pretty hard to get through a song when shit crashes a lot (you know which mistake I'm talking about
) or if you know you want things a certain way and the host doesn't cooperate, or there is some form of incompatibility.
Same sad story for me. Though there were many good things that happened the first time I had my x64 machine built and a few months ago, it's now a trainwreck for months. No longer care why, just tired.
I think the latest experiment is going to be with 32 bit versions of live intro hosting machine with the idea being just to make some simple shit w/o the limit of maschines single core. Not expecting miracles, just a way to squeeze more out of maschine for simple/fun things.

Agreed, "vintage organs" is not that good imho. I have it from komplete, but I rarely use it.Rabid wrote:I will say that I am still upset that NI dropped B4 and I never did get around to finding a good replacement.

Satisfied? If I was satisfied would I be bidding $100's on new stuff at our charity auction? This after I just bought Alchemy (on sale). If I get everything I've bid on, I will have like 30 new things to play with. Satisfied? I don't even know the meaning of the word.
This space has been unintentionally left blank.

I cured synth acquirement syndrome by developing my own synthesizer. In the long run this is probably a bigger black hole than being a collector.
After selling off most of my gear and stripping down to a tiny mobile operation I'm far happier and more productive.
There are a couple of things I'd love to have but don't "need"- the even swankier relative of my already swank microphone, and the Algorithmix Red Eq.
