i can run plenty of other apparently high cpu synths no problem
I only found such problems wit hpatches taht use Reverb. I sent a message to arturia support about this and also mentioned at the Arturia KVR forum.
The same problem seems to be found with the Reverb at Slina V and Vox V.

CPU use also depends on how many of the 12 voices are activated in the Voices page. For normal use not all 12 voices are necessary.
yeah, i test synths, i know how to reduce cpu...

maybe its an AMD thing, but its stuck at 90% idle...

Not me, so I always install demos on another PC, or in a virtual machine. :borg:

I have no clue what that discussion about the demos is about. With the new Arturia demos you don't even need an activation code or an Arturia account.

Had a quick play with the demo.

I feel the same as with the Jupiter-8 - the character is broadly there, and it's decent enough - probably sounds better than I was expecting - but it seems a little "small". I was struck when going through the original presets how much it sounds like the Casio CZ synths - I wasn't expecting that!

Getting into the other sounds and some multis there were some nice thick pads and other more classic synth sounds that I liked - don't seem to get much of these patches on other synths and I could definitely find them useful.

CPU usage was solid here as well, the M12 and a reverb was giving me a more or less constant 22% cpu usage on my MBP...

So - can't say how close it is to the original but I quite like it for what it is...

Note that when I say I want a demoreel from the company that sounds good, I'm not expecting them to pander to my taste in music. Take for example the Oddity 2 promo video - not my thing stylistically, but the sounds were creative and "alive" and made me want to try the demo - which I did - and I was hooked. In short, the potential of the synth shined through, even though the presets displayed weren't my "bag".

I was just watching a tutorial overview of Spark2. Not being familiar with any of their drum stuff other than the collection of vintage stuff that comes with V3 (which I haven't given a fair shake to, but think of as a crappy toy), I must say that Spark2 looks pretty awesome for getting right to it when creating your own beats. I have any number of powerful drum wares, but I'm thinking this one would fit in nicely for a change of pace in the creative process. It's making the V4 upgrade look more enticing.

Absolutely not!

Second video completely blew my head, sounds totally amazing with all that modulation.

Sounds OK, but more like a Matrix-6. Not close enough to the M-12.

With the additional Saturation FX and EQ added (like mentioned earlier) i could get some really great sounds from the Matrix-12V plugin.
Just started programming my own patches and got a really fat Brass sound (yes i love that kind of sounds...).

Actually with some "boost" from those additional FXs i maybe even prefer it over OBXd which so far was my favorite for Oberheim like sounds (while the Uhbie filter in Diva is cool too..).

When i hav done some patches i will post some audio demos.

For the start here is a demo of a factory pad sound using the Klanghelm IVGI Saturation and the PSP NobleQ EQ:
Matrix12V + IVGI + NobleQ_Demo 01

Here is a screenshot with the patch and external FXs (those parameters for the FXs are my standard setings at the moment):

This is the same demo without external FXs:
Matrix12V noFX_Demo 01

With both demos there is no big difference in the sound except a bigger low end which for some patches like e.g. Brasses and/or Basses could make a bigger difference than in this case.

is this 64bit only? installed it on XP X32 and i'm getting not a valid win32 application error

ok, the platform specs on their site indicate Win7, minimum...maybe thats the problem.
shame... because i'm not switching to that bloated POS OS just for this vst.

Nope, it's 32 and 64, but I didn't try to install it on XP yet, just Win 7. Maybe the standalone is just x64, though. Did you try with a 32-bit host like VST Host?

Worked fine here on win7, even with all the 'bloat'

thanks Moondog. good... very good... I already have a Matrix1000, and since it will not work under WIN XP i'll be passing this by.

yeah, it fails with savihost and EnergyXT2 reports it as an invalid 32bit app

weird because it installed without a hitch. i think Arturia simply forgot to do an OS check
on the installation. and if they did leave out XP as a platform, thats a huge F*** up in my opinion.
