Synapse Syndicate releases Orion 9.0 beta. "It's not a real working version, haha who are you kidding: it's intellectual property. We just drop it here; entirely at the risk of the user."

That's a matter of perspective
No that's a matter of fact. If Orion could have competed with the market we would wouldn't be lamenting its demise.

Whether you or I like Orion or not the vast majority of the market did not. That's why they bought more copies of EKS Pro than Orion.

Anyway Orion development is dead. Either keep using it and deal with the problems that come up running new plugins or move on.

I moved on the day that it was announced development was ceased.

If you're still enamored with the Wasp filters then you have Rich's ear. Beg him to add them to Dune 3. Obviously he hasn't thought them worth doing in all these years most likely because the new filters are far superior.....to him.

I'm sure Synapse doesn't even know that site exists. Someone once downloaded the demo and is now illegally offering it for download with who knows what malware attached.

There was never a "9.0" Demo. 8.6 was the last version.

I'll inform Synapse of the illegal download link.

That's why he's releasing only emulations. Stuff you can measure and copy with a lot of effort and trial and error. Creativity or taste = 0.

You obviously don't own Dune 3.

He's releasing emulations recently because that's what punters on the market want.

I was just kidding. But it does appear when one searches on Google for Orion.

I've sent a PM to Richard. I don't think he even knows that link exists. I doubt very much he would want that old demo floating about.

Of course we would, as Rich lost interest. Orion outlasted EnergyXT and several other similar products that, like Orion, were not trying to be Cubase or Logic and were being developed by one person. Rich just decided to stop working on it.
Whether you or I like Orion or not the vast majority of the market did not.
You cannot know that. Did it ever receive a bad review? Do you think it ever reached even 1% of the number of demo downloads Fruityloops or Reason were getting at any particular time? Of course it didn't, it was never competing with those products at any level.

I recently offered to pay him for his time to turn Wasp into a VSTi but he wasn't interested.

Sometimes the willful ignorance you are happy to display astonishes me. You know as well as I do that DUNE's filters came from Wasp, that DUNE itself started life as a Wasp update. ArcSyn does a better job of being Wasp than DUNE does, though, and is a much better instrument to work with.

Yes because no one was buying Orion. They bought more copies of EKS Pro. No sense working on a product that has no return on time invested.
BONES wrote: Tue Sep 15, 2020 12:30 amYou cannot know that.
Sure I can. How many people owned Orion ? How many still care ? A dozen ?
BONES wrote: Tue Sep 15, 2020 12:30 am it was never competing with those products at any level.
Sure it was competing for buyer's money whether you can see that or not. You're just blinded by your love for Orion and can't see the vast majority of the market didn't share that love. FL Studio is at version 20+ now. Why ? Because people liked it more than Orion. Make all the lame excuses you want but Orion has been dead for five years because it simply could not compete partially because someone spent all their time trying to dumb it down to his level instead of helping it grow.

The willful ignorance you always display astonishes me although after all these years it shouldn't. It has become expected.

If as we know "DUNE's filters came from Wasp, that DUNE itself started life as a Wasp update" then why are you still whining about Wasp's filters ?

Like I said you have Rich's ear so either ask him to add whatever you think makes Wasp worth owning to Dune 3 or shut up about it....droning on about it for another decade will accomplish nothing.

So like I said we've been going around and around for nearly two decades. You won't change my mind and yours is apparently nonfunctional so I'll walk away from this pointless discussion and simply say:

Have a nice day. :tu:

This proves what? That he can make a clean filter? That he can make a model of a famous HW filter?

When he makes an original filter comparable to Minimoog, Prophet 5, OSCar, or TB - send me a notification. Until then, he's at Wasp-level and CL level - and that's not much, that's cook book stuff.

Hey BONES, have you tried ABL Pro? I did try WASP yesterday - sorry, can't hear what's so special about the filter. The 'liquid' thing has been done a lot, there are some quite nice 101 and 303 emulations out there.

Did Richard say why he's not interested?
