Been playing with it quite a bit recently, definitely the most valve sounding non-valve thing I have ever heard. Great stuff!

Honestly, that kind of quote should be on the product page.Hermetech Mastering wrote:Been playing with it quite a bit recently, definitely the most valve sounding non-valve thing I have ever heard. Great stuff!

Yes, the "calibration" can be used for such a task, but it is not it's main intention. The calibration is made for people that use a different reference level like -24, -20 or even -16. Tony could have coded that out - so it's merely convenience and "additional abuse".djscorb wrote:This makes it a lot faster to audition presets and also a great way to experiment with driving the processor harder or softer using a single control.
To me, MJUC works best if it's only slightly overdriven. And since my work level is -18dBFS, I only do that if I run a channel slightly too hot.

MJUC jr. will be updated accordingly asap.

I bought and used it all over a mix but it stopped processing audio on one track, reloaded it and it's been fine since; anyone else had an issue like that?

Mastering preset:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<KlanghelmMJUC presetname="HermetechMastering" Compress="20.0" Makeup="0.0" Attack="4.4"
Recovery="2.3" Timing="0" Mode="0" Density="0" Ratio="0" HighRatio="0"
Punch="2" Istage="1" Timbre="0.6" Drive="1.9" SCF="100" Mix="100"
Calibration="-14" Automakeup="1" ChMode="2" VuMode="2" Model="1"
HQ="1" Bypass="0"/>
You will need to adjust Attack and Recovery to the track, and then adjust compression amount until you get a maximum of about 2dB GR. Sounds amazing!
I am also noticing that when the meter is set to GR, changing the ratio from lower to higher (e.g. from 2 to 8 in Mk2 mode) actually shows LESS gain reduction, isn't that wrong? On my hardware comps, increasing the ratio also increases the amount of gain reduction happening.

It depends on how the Compression knob behaves - like maybe the range of the compression knob gets changed depending on the ratio setting? If the compression knob only changed the threshold wouldn't it be labelled Threshold? I guess it changes a combination of the threshold and input level? I don't know enough about compressors to sayHermetech Mastering wrote:I am also noticing that when the meter is set to GR, changing the ratio from lower to higher (e.g. from 2 to 8 in Mk2 mode) actually shows LESS gain reduction, isn't that wrong? I did but didn't install it yet, i didn't see it mentioned in the release notes but i think it was an issue with single mault which would make sense as it's only one instance, it hasn't occured since.clintmartin wrote:I haven't. Did you download the update 1.0.1?
@hermetech so what do i just drag the quoted text onto MJUC? Thanks.

MJUC is calibrated in a way, that when getting 10 dB GR, you get approx. 10 dB GR with each ratio setting at the same compress position.Hermetech Mastering wrote:Mastering preset:

I wished I'd be able to describe this better.
I think the easiest way to get the idea, is to run a 1k sine through MJUC, dial in the Compress control until you get 10dB GR and then switch through the different ratios. The GR amount won't change much.
But that also means, that the GR starts to kick in earlier at lower ratios.
There are quite a few comps without dedicated threshold control, that are working this way: Retro 176, Urei 1176 and its siblings...

Just copy the text and choose "paste from clipboard" in MJUC's preset browser.musikmachine wrote:so what do i just drag the quoted text onto MJUC?
