I wonder how many here might 'review' their decision if the user library starts filling up with with diverse and interesting blocks.. so the virtual modular becomes very real... a bit like eurorack has done with modulars?
Q. a few months back there was a post about a new 'modular' for Reaktor, which has faceplates etc.. any one remember the name? i wonder if that was R6? or have NI potentially killed it?
Native Instruments released Reaktor 6 !

I have not heard of these before. A pity they are stuck with that ugly hardware look though, they will stick out like a sore thumb.thetechnobear wrote:answered my own questions - System 63, by Flux IT... and yes its Blocks compatible!thetechnobear wrote:I upgraded to R6 yesterday (have K9) , because I want to start developing blocks... its not so much that they are new or something that couldn't be done before (look at ModularX etc), but they provide standardisation which makes interoperatibily easier for users... possibly a new class of users between 'instruments/preset users' and developers.

There are also "loose" models of nonlinear diode and OTA-style ladder filters, but ATM those are available only as Core macros, not as Blocks, so, they have to be wired up to the panel manually. Those do not contain embedded oversampling, make sure your sampling rate setting is sufficiently highaMUSEd wrote:btw anyone else loving the new Sallen filter? Any chance of NI producing more such blocks in near future, doing those 2044 and 303 filters with the necessary blocks requirements, perchance?

Chances, yesEvilDragon wrote:Any chance of NI producing more such blocks in near future, doing those 2044 and 303 filters with the necessary blocks requirements, perchance?
BTW, a small correction, it's 2040, not 2044. Although off the top of my head I'm not sure, what the difference is

I'm sure NI will sell blocks and there will be nice offerings from 3rd parties too at great prices. Only the blocks with very special custom DSP will be worth paying for, as i see the user library offering many gems for free.

I could not resist the update and after "playing" with it for an hour I am absolutely sold. The sound is stunning and the possibilities incredibly vast. Looking forward to the gems which will appear in the user library, I suspect many mind-blowing blocks will appear there.
I have to admit that I used Reaktor mainly for Monark and never delved deeper into it because this stuff seemed unnecessary complicated and obscure for me but this blocks totally changed my view on "modular" within my DAW.

I'm very excited about the Blocks framework. This is actually more like the original concept of Reaktor/Generator. As they added complexity, it moved away from the concept of a virtual modular, and became more of a graphical programming language for instrument builders on the one side, and a delivery platform for premade synths on the other. Blocks bridges the gap nicely with a standard for modular patching. It also provides a way of delivering the Monark filter, etc., which others had tried to integrate into other synth designs, but it became thorny because they couldn't actually distribute the filter module to users who hasn't already purchased it. I'm also excited to see what the user library comes up with.
I was also disappointed that R6 didn't include some kind of scripting module. This is one thing that Max/MSP got right a long time ago. Some things are just far more efficient to implement in written code.
I've been upgrading Komplete Ultimate each year, so as badly as I want to run out and buy this right now, I'm going to wait it out for now. At least I just bought Omnisphere, so that will keep me busy for a while...

As an owner of REAKTOR 3 you qualify to install and activate this version.
(update for £89...)

Yes!!! This is really a very exciting release, and I think really brings Reaktor to a whole new level.
New filters and OSCs seem to match the best of other VSTis.
The Block concept will certainly help general users, builders, and the general library. A great intermediate level block conceptually. I think this will also encourage people to dive into Core to make new blocks.
Want to build an Oscillator? Well now it won't be buried in the library under Macro's and Tools and it should be easier to patch in!
It looks and sounds absolutely fantastic.
Reaktor is again back to the very best soft synth! Bring it ON!
