Yes, I immediately had to think of Roland hw as well :)

The Thackeray is official in v3 or?
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

Define "ideal". Ideal for you ? Or me ? Or who ?

I don't like the new default skin. Lennard has said he is fine with hacking the .dll but with the new user skinning system that wont be necessary.

Thank God LD doesn't agree with you....since you are quite clearly wrong. The User Interface of a plugin is hardly superficial.............

I think so.

I am testing new MIDI controller, I use M-Audio Venom and it is my day 1 with it. The knobs on Venom have no limit, so it can turn endlessly. In Sylenth1 it jumps from 0 to 127 )or left to right). In other synths it switches smoothly.
Yes, I have this problem also with Blofeld knobs. But in some DAWs, there is an option to make the midi knob (or slider) to pick up instead of jump (like in Ableton Live), but I couldn't find how to do it in Studio One or Reaper.

Anyway, I'm jealous now that I can't buy Sylenth1! I checked my account and there are only $3 there :hihi: Maybe enough for a discounted tiny game in Steam as an additional Christmas gift for myself :clown:
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

It's only skin-deep, what else can you expect of a skin
It's not that people can change the arrangement of controls or anything.

Well, I think LD is wrong in that case. It takes guts to simply say no...

Regarding the Midi controller, I like that the global cutoff and resonance controls are by default assigned to the only two knobs on my Midi keyboard :D Very good for sweeps...
The only problem is that as soon as I touch the hw knobs, Sylenth's controls are set to zero, instead of picking up from their current values.

Reminds me of East Germany.

Depends on the skinning system. If there is an .ini file or config file full user skinning including arrangement of controls may be possible. I hope so.......

It also takes brains to know when to say yes.......

Sorry, but people are spoiled today. With the overwhelming majority of products it is not possible to change their skin, painting, coating or whatever. Playing around with such aspects has something childish to it, as if plugins were cheap plastic toys 8)

With U-he synths you can... some of the Zebra skins are wildly different, including additional X/Y controls etc.

So its possible Sylenth could be the same...

well, neither, it's just a part of why sylenth is still seen as a unique or worthwhile synth today. it's just not trendy with plugin makers to go for the most digital sound possible, more like the opposite.

another reason why sylenth would be "still good" is for hardware control integration. in many newer plugins you will simply need the mouse at some point to make your patch and just fiddle with that before you can move on. sylenth is one of the better options when it comes to jam synths.

I think you are exaggerating when you say the most digital sound possible. When it came out, reviewers praised it for its analog sound. And while 8 years or so have passed, it surely did not turn into the opposite all of a sudden.

Maybe it's time for a Diva-style Sylenth vs analog hw blind test thread :D

To pick that point up, that's one thing i never understood about Sylenth1, the need for a separate global cutoff and resonance. Which isn't even global, but rather adds to the setting you have on the filter for part A and B. It's also totally non-standard, no other synth i ever fiddled with has that. I was very confused when i first used it, because i thought it was basically a remote control to control both filters, as the "global" term would suggest. No idea what Lennard was thinking there. :hihi: You can get used to it i guess, but it's still weird.
