Yeah, multiband dynamics are totally okay when it's not completely morphing the sound into something else

(the free multiband dynamics plugin OTT, modelled after the Ableton Live dynamics preset of the same name, has been seen in use quite frequently here as a "final touch" sort of effect, hehe. It's easy to overdo it, just a touch is usually the ticket.)

I chose to use Synth1. It's my first time here so I chose an easy-to-use synth. My other alternative was Sytrus, but it's too complex.

Multiband compressors are allowed, people regularly use OTT and FL users sometimes use Maximus. I think most DAWs have a multiband compressor of some sort. You can check which effects other users have used in their submissions.

The general spirit of OSC is to not distort the sound of the synth with external effects. Don't dial the effects to 11... For mixing purposes it's fine.

Effects included in the synth are a different matter! You can abuse distortion, and use modulating effects like Chorus or Flanger which are normally banned for external effects. As long as it's a feature of the synth it's considered part of the synth's sound.

Hi everyone.... it's been a while (probably over a year?)

Anyway, my synth of choice for this one was Dune 3. It's pretty easy to work with! My entry is short and sweet, and isn't exactly gonna compete with the best of them, as a lot of you regular OSC'ers blow me away with the quality you can crank out, but it's a fun competition when I understand the synth and good motivation to have some fun making music. I wanted to make track with Fathom but my computer cannot take my fast ostinato strings and one instance kills my cpu. So I decide to to skip it and make a new track with free Zebralette. Made in 2 days so it is simple beat with little jazzy feel (I hope). Because of short time I take few of my older presets tweak them and made some new additional for this track.

Finally I found time and inspiration enough for a new track! It is so good to be back in the OSC again.
After trying different synths I ended up with Zebra again. With this synth I can imediately start to make music.

After so long no making pretty much music, i´ve decided to take part in KVR Osc 121contest. And this is my entry using just free tools.

DAW: LMMS 1.3 + Audacity 2.3 to correct the beginning and the end (subtle fade in and no subtle fade out)

Synth: 11 x Sonigen Modular. I made 3 new presets. Snare, Hi-Hats and a weird bass called "metalizer" going with the main bass.
