ok, it's nice to have new instruments, but will they update the dx7 and its bad cpu usage?
Anyway, I will not go for v7 update, until the dx7 is not done properly.
and one plus comment: the v collection doesn't contain pigments. so if you want really new sounds from arturia, go for pigments. these 3-4 new instruments in the collection have the same sound quality as the other ones.

Something just shook free for me - or I stumbled onto a fantastic connection. Finally able to download (manually - not through ASC) Analog Lab 4 upgrade. Were "Concerts" part of the earlier versions? If so... I completely missed them. The default shipped with a Demo concert. Sorry again.. I may have missed the feature before - but it will allow setlists. A big nice to have for me.

More on Analog Lab 4 (free upgrade for AL3 owners): Pigments presets are included. Since I have a Pigments license.. I can not only stack/split Pigments with the other VC synths... Edit is available and launches Pigments, just like the other VC collection synths I have. Speaking of those - I had upgraded to VC 6 when the "best upgrade price ($199) that you will ever see" dropped 50% to $99 last November :ud: . Happy waiting for the price to drop back to $99 this time around (again). The (3) new synths presets are in Analog Lab ... so they're playable. If I stumble into something that seems like a 'must-have' editing capability - I'll consider upgrading for the $199 price. For now . . . I can (probably) wait. For folks who don't already own Pigments, but have Analog Lab... they will get the presets... and some rudimentary settings changing ability.

Maybe more later - but wanted to point out... Often, it is quicker to download directly from your User Area... (My Arturia > My Products) and select the V Collection you own (in my case V Collection 6) - click More Info ... and manually download the instruments. Analog Lab downloaded in 3 minutes for me, just now. It had been spinning in ASC for over an hour. Killed the ASC load.. and grabbed the rest manually.

Cheers

Does anyone know how to get Synthopedia presets mentioned on the V Collection 7 page? Or are they a part of Analog Lab 4?

I am on V Collection 6.

Could be worse. There could be someone who complains about those complaining.

The "same" sound quality as the other ones? And what quality is that? Did you try them already?

Regarding the DX7, yes it uses a little more CPU than other FM synths, but nothing that brings a computer to its knees. My computer already has several years, and I can easily run several instances of DX7 V without problems.

V stands for "Vintage". Pigments is not a "vintage" instrument, it is a modern instrument, therefore, I doubt it will ever be part of V Collection. Same thing goes for any new instruments Arturia comes up with, as well as for the effects.

Analog Lab 4 is becoming the new 'Kore' - sure, it doesn't host VSTs but with all those quality instruments and now being able to add fx/mini mixer/layers/splits etc, its a really powerful tool.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Who knows, with Analog Lab 5 they might add VST support and then samples and loops, like Komplete Kontrol. :hihi:

Mellotron V is great.
Always wanted a mellotronizer :) .
Just loaded up an acoustic drum loop and the result is prefect lo-fi. Sounds amazing. Great job.

The Mainstage/Logic Mellotron sounds comparable (at least the strings from the analog lab presets...) If you play in a King Crimson cover band it makes sense... But all the bells and whistles are better done in a proper sampler. The quality of a Mellotron has a specific ancient character, but back then even was considered terrible quality, you just couldn‘t do it better in the 70s...

I would not pay anything for a Mellotron, and rather get some free samples if I really needed that sound...
I wonder if anybody buys that at $99 - as add on for the collection I don‘t mind, but its not accounted as a „value“. So basically there are two new instruments in the upgrade...

well... at least it took 10 pages before someone farted out "it doesn't sound like the real thing!". :ud:
Yes but that is an inevitable because this is being sold as an emulation with great play being made re it's authentic sound.

What is also disingenuous is the way Arturia trademarked "Synthi" both for use on software and hardware when the hardware Synthis are still being made.

So, your "problem" is because Arturia "trademarked" the name Synthi... Why is it "disingenious"? It's a purely business decision. AFAIK, the Oberheim name was used for other synths under the Gibson umbrella, while Tom Oberheim was building SEMs under his own name. And Bob Moog had to build devices under the name "Big Briar" because he lost the rights to use the Moog name.

And "the hardware Synthis" aren't still being made. Someone may be building something using old schematics and similar components, but the original owners and builders (which were Peter Zinovieff, Tristram Cary and David Cockerell) aren't involved anymore. He is making Synthis as much as Behringer is making Minimoogs. Nothing against - I'm glad someone are still doing it. But EMS died, and the precious studio devices collection (which was of great importance historically) was left to rot abandoned in a store basement, much to the shame of those who took the decision.

Besides you still didn't prove the emulation doesn't sound like the real thing. You didn't even tried the emulation, as you said yourself. You are totally biased in your judgement, and these statements prove that. Biased as you are, any tests coming from you would be regarded by me with a grain of salt (or more)

I used to have two of them sync'd over MIDI and used the internal sequencers to copy chart songs at the time. I'd like to be able to have those patches again.
I've converted the CZ1, CZ101, CZ230S, RC10/RC20/RC30 banks for use with CZV here: http://olilarkin.co.uk/downloads/CZV_casio_banks.zip

I tagged them using the rather excellent preset manager
