If NI delays a synth like Zebra 3 has been delayed then ...Teksonik wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 8:03 pm

Can you link to an example of size and not action that caused positive or negative reactions ?chk071 wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 8:06 pm Sometimes (actually... quite frequently) it's rather a matter of being big or small.
It's what a developer does and the decisions they make that earns them love or hate.
Vengeance is relatively small but yet their CodeMeter decision cause quite the sh*tstorm. Again action not size was the trigger.

I'm fine with Zebra 2 ... and I bet that you can still use Zebra 1.0 from 2004.Calenberger wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 8:11 pmIf NI delays a synth like Zebra 3 has been delayed then ...Teksonik wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 8:03 pm

I'm sure you'd be surprised about the amount of copies they sold in spite of that "sh**storm". That's the typical mistake people make: Judge by a dozen of users complaining all day long. Actually, the same happens in this thread. Count the amount of people who reacted negatively here. How many users actually take part in this "sh***storm"?Teksonik wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 8:21 pm Vengeance is relatively small but yet their CodeMeter decision cause quite the sh*tstorm. It should be obvious that NI's CEO can't frequent forums, and greet every NI user with a handshake, like Urs does. Some developers, even one man businesses, aren't present on forums at all, and that alone will give them less of a reputation among the forum users. Does that matter to the common userbase? Maybe, a tad. I don't know how many lurkers are around here, who never post, or register, but are mere users.
Alone by that you can see that it's not so simple. I have no doubt though that many act by the mere size of the business though. That's a totally common theme among the odd internet folks. Not only in the audio software business.

Sorry I forgot the "can" ... You still can CAN use Zebra from 2004. Thats what this thread is about.Calenberger wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 8:24 pmI'm not an Audiot!audiot wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 8:23 pmI'm fine with Zebra 2 ... and I bet that you still use Zebra 1.0 from 2004.Calenberger wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 8:11 pmIf NI delays a synth like Zebra 3 has been delayed then ...Teksonik wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 8:03 pm

Speculation not based in fact.Calenberger wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 8:11 pm If NI delays a synth like Zebra 3 has been delayed then ...
Probably because u-he has never given a release date so as not to generate expectation. Again actions cause reactions.
I'm sorry that N.I. is taking flack for their decision but it's because of that decision not because of their size or who they are.
I have nothing against NI although I think they've lost focus in recent times but my reaction would be the same no matter what developer had made that decision.
Your blind defense of them is admirable for your loyalty but doesn't change the fact that negative actions cause negative reactions.

I highly doubt that. But, the people who complain about them for that decision surely have a point. The question is if that point is severe enough to justify to "never buy any product from them again", or "take legal actions against them", as has been threatened in this thread.Teksonik wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 8:29 pm I'm sorry that N.I. is taking flack for their decision but it's because of that decision not because of their size or who they are.

Please provide proof of that statement. I want to see solid numbers not speculation. Get me the spreadsheets to analyze.chk071 wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 8:28 pm I'm sure you'd be surprised about the amount of copies they sold in spite of that "sh**storm".
The point was that it doesn't matter what the size of the company is it's the decisions they make that generate reactions.
I know you can't see that as you are in blind defense mode.
Will the people who have decided not to do business with NI based on their unpopular decision make a real difference on the bottom line?
Perhaps not but again that's not the point. If you make an unpopular decision you'll get unpleasant reactions.
Again I'm sure NI can handle those reactions but the fanboys seem unable to accept the negative publicity even though they say "it won't hurt NI's business one bit".

You talk about "fanboys", and "blindness", yet, obviously, you're too blind to see that there's a lot of bashing here, and very little reason.Teksonik wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 8:38 pmPlease provide proof of that statement. At least two ways of being able to go on using the plugins/activate them after the 31st of May have been mentioned, by the way. None of the people who never want to buy a plugin from NI anymore, or take legal actions against them, have even reacted to one of them. That alone says enough about the motives in this thread.

Doing a clone copy of your hard drive (will work when you hard drive fails, but, might not work when you do some major changes to your whole hardware), or legally using a warezed copy (it's legal in Germany when the copy protection prevents you from using your legally bought software, and, I assume it's the same in the whole EU).
Dirty workarounds, but, better than not being able to use the plugins/libraries, I guess.

Not encouraging from NI! I really thought they are going to do it offline authorization (like Camel Audio did). I don't see other alternative solution!noiseboyuk wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 6:59 pm Matt from NI speaks... https://www.native-instruments.com/foru ... st-1887475
I'm not intended to upgrade my OS or PC hardware for at least 5 years from now. So, I think I'm going to use only the software that has offline authorization as an option.
Well, thanks to this thread, it made me anticipate future problems and smoothly prepare for them from now (I have already moved my tiny part time job to use Libre Office instead of MS Office years ago and I think I'm going to follow such route with music making).
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.
