i posted sample of tooro synth that sound great as well and that is made by a waldorf employe.
the xt the m and tooro sound all really good to me .
I didn't realize the Tooro was made by a Waldorf employee.

I think the Tooro sounds really good too, closer to the Microwave 1. I haven't had the chance to play one in person, but it always sounded really good to me. I really don't need any more Waldorf wavetable synths, but this one intrigues me. I like the M too for it's really nice interface. But being that I'm fine with the XT interface, I wouldn't replace my XT or MW1. Maybe at some point I'll get to try the M and see if the interface inspires me.
He is not a employee who worked on older synths i believe,i think he worked/designed interface/case and firmware if my memorie is correct but could be wrong.

Tooro seems really good , the filter seems great

I didn’t do any extensive comparisons (or as extensive as you can over the internet) of the XT, MW1, M and Tööro, but the MW1 and M always get me in demos, where the XT often sounds annoying to me and the Tööro sounds somewhat flat, but still pretty good. I don’t think it’s my imagination. I could have bought a Tööro anytime, but nothing moved me to. Every time I heard the M, I thought, “I’ve got to get one of those.”

My only complaints about it so far is that mod source abbreviations are sometimes cryptic and take some memorization. It would be nice if when you start turning the selector knob, you got a different screen with the full list spelled out. A VST editor would also be nice for automation duties. Other than that, I’m super happy with mine.

The XT was one that I thought I didn't want or need. And then when I got it, started playing some of my old tracks with it, I started to realize how well it shines in a mix. It's like the missing ingredient I didn't know about. It has a unique quality to it. I heard the M and it sounds comparatively good in the XT mode, though there's still differences. Waldorf did a good job of recreating it being that the code for the XT was written on a quickly obsolete software platform.

Post

Would you mind describing the differences in some detail? I love the sound of the XT.

Looks great, feels pricey and sounds correspondingly. I just feel like a virgin after the first touch ;-)

Transports me back to 1985...
There is definitely some 80's soundtracks in that box! :phones:

One of the things I like about the M is that the Env times can be quite long! It's an excellent synth for textures and characterful pads!

I took a chance on a Microwave on eBay and it turned out to be a Rev. A. Very happy.

I love the M's classic sound characteristics in comparison to some of my other digital synths. The PPG Wave 2 is one of my dream synths, and at least for my studio, the M is a more feasible alternative than a Waldorf vintage synth. Unfortunately, unless I order from Europe, the Waldorf price markup in the US is rather significant.

I recently bought the M and last night was trying to sequence it (rather than enjoying a bit of sound design).
Can someone help me with what I am missing please with Program Change and Bank Select? It works fine in single sound mode, but in multi mode program changes on the individual channels are completely ignored.
I tried changing the MIDI Channel in the settings to 5 but any program change on midi channels 1-4 of the multi, change the multi, not the respective individual midi channel programs.

What firmware are you using?

There's a beta of 1.08, did you try that?

Post

Yes, 1.0.8 is an impressive update! Lots of new stuff including some excellent filters.

Waldorf M is a fantastic synth!

Yeah, I’ve been playing with the beta, it’s so unique. Nothing sounds like it. I love it!
