Voted. Very interesting month - the variety of different synths really came through in the songs. Nice work everyone, and thanks to BJ and Richard for keeping this going!

Voted!
Just a touch of EQ and a tickle of compression

Voted! Another great month! I enjoyed a lot listening to this month's entries. Great variation and some pretty experimental stuff also. Neat!

Some good advice there Vospi. I will tighten up on my side. I didn't know how many people actually downloaded the songs. I thought enabling downloads was just a formality/legacy.Vospi wrote: Wed Feb 15, 2023 5:53 pm (I've voted and read many nice words on many pages, which is great.)
Suggestion to authors: you might like to name your _files_ more precisely than OSC 167 128 2023-01-30 1043 (a literal example). Not only the download function is supposed to facilitate offline judging (I guess?), but also, if I've downloaded a bunch of tracks for personal listening and to show to friends, then it's, like, the ultimate conversion, you already have my vote of confidence, but it doesn't even state your name in the file?.. 45 people did OSC 167, what if you delete that track later, I'll never find you I guess?
My strategy is:
- compress to FLAC (fre:ac)
- edit tags extensively (mp3tag)
Both pieces of software allow for a pretty speedy workflow (like copypasting tags), and that whole thing would:
- keep the file smaller, so people would be less likely to delete them (including yourself);
- have your credentials/cover be always embedded into tags, which enables finding you easily.
(and some people still scrobble things, too... but that's, like, a bunch of nerds. which I'm a part of.)

Including KVR nick and title is actually mandatory. RTFR!
"Soundcloud file-name format: Artist - Track Title where artist name is the same as KVR nick."
( from https://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/rules )
Both this and the 'downloads enabled' requirement have more to do with archiving than anything else, would be my guess.

Ah I thought the downloaded files had the same name as the track not the original filename! Often my OSC track name don't even closely resemble my filename / project name. Apologies for all the weird filenames!ELEX wrote: Thu Feb 16, 2023 5:11 pm Including KVR nick and title is actually mandatory. RTFR!![]()

Ah, this is wicked. Thank you all so much! I'm sorta speechless and very thankful indeed. Strange times and still some wonderful things keep pushing upwards.

Congrats to the whole top 10, really, because it was a really amazing round with fantastic tracks even further down the "charts".
I will also pass on my price. You've given me the most fantastic reward already!
BIG THANK YOU TO RICHARD and BJ (though I haven't seen him around in a while?!)!
...now I'll have to try and keep my promise to do a track each month...

OH, SNAP, and Congrats to mmGhost for the extra $50, hahaha! AWESOME! We should start a little club on one-instance-top5ers, haha!
