Just put the Blackstar 30 TVP on layby after a demo sounds great :tu:
30 watts will go well with my Fender 25 in stereo I reckon. It does a good Marshall sound 8)

Also tried a old Yamaha AES LP w dimarzio pickups
Sounded amazing with the amp.

So that’s on layby also now :D :hyper:
Very nice , I liiike ( as Borat would say) :hihi:

Yamaha + Dimarzio sounds like a good combo. Do you know which model Dimarzio's they are?

Unknown - all I got was it’s an AES series in blue w 3 knobs and the jack is on the back wit dimarzios tag said.

Here’s a lil audio demo of the TVP + Yamaha
I was not warmed up so the playing is choppy. More zep! Sounded very deep and warm :tu:

Sounds great! Nice tone!

Not sure how this ‘TVP’ / valve switching thing works on it. I’m guessing it has IRs built in maybe.
Sounds very good tho :tu: very handy this ability to dial in the mids to taste with this amp.impressed.

Yo E - this is the guitar :tu:
Custom wound DiMarzios for this model 8) sounded pretty amazing though the amp at the shop.
The only downside is no fret markers on the neck but that’s an easy fix w /stickers or something.
Nice woods and appointments too looks like a high end of the range model . Whoop whoop !
And it’s not a Boat Anchor as far as I can remember which is also great for my bad back :hyper:

Steve's Special bridge and Evolution neck. Sounds like a great combo. They worked hard to avoid changing their headstock!

Haha. I remembered it had locking tuners but forgotten that part, :hihi: interesting design to say the least.
I do prefer the usual square/book-style headstock vs the PRS style . Gonna be tough to find a replacement tuner tho!

Yeah I put it on layby as it sounded great wasn’t inspecting too closely and only vaguely knew of AES from the 90s . Happy to see its premium appointments and woods in construction.
My Aria MiC LP copy is off to shop tmrw to be sold now and pay off the layby :tu:
Wasn’t a bad guitar per se the Aria but not worth a pup upgrade for me cbf.

Important Update! Lol.
Not that anybody cares ( this thread is just my personal blog now :hihi: ) but,,

Picked up my new blackstar 30 today. whoop whoop!
Interestingly it has a sticker on the front saying “ 75W “ on closer inspection underneath it said “75watts into 30W watts of True Valve Power”.
Weird.

Also cancelled my layby on the cool Yamaha with dimarzio pickups. (Can’t afford now with a speeding ticket to be paid)
And instead picked up a $180 “platinum” SG (by ‘Monterey’ brand I think.
I love these guitars I’ve owned 2 now.
Excellent sounding cheapie SGs these.

And I much prefer the SG snarl and bite to a Les Paul’s bland/ woofy sound.
Les Paul’s are overrated big time imo.

Dunno why on earth the “Holy Grail” is a ‘59 Les Paul, it must have been somehow the only few models that sounded any good.
Or else like the Holy Grail itself it is all a myth

And the weight of them! I reckon the weight is why they all have tuning problems. That heavy body pulling the strings out of tune.

AC/DC here I come :tu: 8)

Also some dude on TDPRI reckons I will have problems running a frontman 25R solid state amp and a Blackstar 30w digital amp in tandem in a stereo setup. Something about possible ground loops/ noise and polarity issues with the speakers.
And also some latency w the digital amp vs SS.
May Result in a weird “out of phase” sound he says.

Whaaaat?

Never heard of this - anyone know?

Many digital amps and pedals have latency. It's imperceivable with a single amp but I can imagine it being a problem with two. If the amps are spread out stereo on opposite sides of the room, it will make you sound super wide, with nothing in the middle (where the frequencies will cancel out). No problem once there's a bassist and/or second guitarist, probably lame if it's only you and a drummer. Solution is to use the Blackstar by itself.

Ok cheers.
Yes super wide stereo is what I’m going for,
Never considered phase or freq cancellation until now, I will experiment cheers.

Check out my new cheapie SG audio demo will be posting soon in a new thread and my thoughts of SGs vs Les Paul’s. (But who am I anyway? :hihi:)
