Don't set your sights too low - I see the nuffink music corporation ("MusicSpace plc") growing like this:

* add a range of new products based on the same design, with each fed by the output of ChordSpace (note new capitalisation) (e.g. DrumSpace, BassSpace (hence the need for the capital "S"), StringSpace, PadSpace, BrassSpace, ChoirSpace....)

* get a celeb endorsement or two (I can see Kraftwerk standing on stage with a MusicSpace touchscreen each and nuffink else :) )

* produce a child-friendly version, with the hexagrams populated by related pictures (so all the iv group are types of car, all the v group are types of animal etc.) to provide an easy way for children to link them together into musical sounding chord progressions ("red sports car, lion, vase of flowers" etc) before gradually introducing the theory

* work with a couple of charities for the mentally and physically disabled - Chordspace and a touchscreen (plus some other software to provide at least drums and bass) could enable some people who are unable to use a keyboard or mouse to create music

Then the rest of us can get all misty eyed when we remember your humble beginnings ("I remember Sir nuffink OBE when he used to hang out here at KvR you know" "Yeah right, course he did" ...)

Joking apart, I think the child friendly version could sell (Sony do a children's version of Acid (the music tool, not the drug!)) and I reckon some charities would take you up on a version for the disabled (maybe Nordorf Robbins (sp?) or someone like that)

Derek.

nuffink said midi input to CS is not available yet...

Hey -- this has potential using it as a teaching aid for music theory, yeah? With the catchy phrase:

"Learn sumfink from nuffink!"

Why not?

;)

I'm talking to people in educational publishing. I think this may well be the primary market for the commercial version.
With the added benefit that they, usually, pay up.

Indeed mate, I was serious -- so, well planned indeed -- excellent teaching tool with the added benefit of being a unique instrument in itself!

You have my admiration for this extraordinary effort & my wishes for your success. ;)

forgive me if this has already been said, but as an educational tool it would really handy to see what keys are activated to produce each chord, kinda like having a little keyboard at the bottom that lights up when you hit one of the hexamawotsits...just a thought :)

Yep, and guitar tab, and all sorts of other cool stuff in the pipeline.

I believe Wopelka wants to record the ChordSpace MIDI output to the FLS piano roll. I hope someone can figure that out.
