in the fight against software piracy, some devleopers are now developing the dongle a little further...

the spokesman for xyz synth ltd (pictured above) said "our new synth will not run without the hardware controller attached.... we shunned usb as people always complain about filling up the ports so we used a long plastic tube filled with elves who whisper the commands back and forth. we are also particularly proud of the bigarsedwheel tm controller as we think it represents a step forward in controller technology"

the new synth will be released at the end the 4th quarter of 2007 ready for namm and will be priced at $1,000,000. it comes with its own portacabin for storage and will be available for both windows and mac.

I think every synth should come with a steering wheel.

Holy crap, do you have to sit on the other side of the room? :hihi:

Not really, my old eyes need the extra viewing area.

Just added some new gear to my little studio, and while taking photos of the new setup, it occurred to me that too often we take photos that "explains" our studio rather than express how we "feel" about our studio. So this time, I went with the latter.

Out of the current batch of new gear, the ones that excites me the most are the Klein + Hummel O 300D's, since I got them less than half of the retail price, which means I saved over $3,000 on them!

I don't have any photos, but I have a short video documentary on the construction of my studio.

Thanks! Yeah, I shoot a Canon 1D Mark II. Those photos were all shot with a Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 lens. Although the 1D MKII is a professional body, you can easily get the same look as those photos with even the cheapest entry level DSLR these days, as long as you slap on a lens that's got a big aperture and understand lighting/composition/color theory. Canon makes a very cheap 50mm f/1.8, which can give you roughly the same result as the more expensive f/1.4 version.

Awesome video! I lived in Fuzhou for about 4 1/2 years, and have been to Beijing. What are you doing there? And did you manage to buy all the material you need in Beijing for the studio?

Hey Lunatique,

My wife has, a couple of different times, had a good long laugh at your glamour shots of your gear.

I tried to stand up for you, but only made it worse. (Sorry :-)

superfly76 (um, Doug)

that's a great video.

How did you end up in Beijing ? Is the studio your living or is music your living ?

Well... as long as she doesn't laugh at the glamour shots I took of my wife, then I'm ok with it. :D
