Very very new to all this stuff, but loving Sampletank. I know it is viewed as primarily a Rompler, but I've been playing loading up some samples. As we will all be addicted to acquiring new Sampletank sounds but will have no money left (even at such a fantastic value) 'cos we have each joined a squillion times, is it OK to distribute sounds for free on here when all this is finished? I have permission from the person who recorded the sampled notes originally. There's no copyright on the format, is there? Thought it might be best to check with a man who would know!!

PS: Squidz has nothing to worry about...they won't even come close!!
You mean something like putting them into the KVR sound banks, etc? Full permission or your own stuff should be no problem. If you go and pull in something other than that you'll be playing with fire of course.
But you can share your own child presets (.stip files) of existing ST content (correct me if I'm wrong Peter), as long as you don't also provide the actual Sample data (i.e. the filenames which end with .sth., .sti., and .stw.). That way the only people who can use your modified presets are those who actually paid for the instrument you have modified.

No! Please think of the children!!!

OK, I apologize - I've had a million cups of coffee and have been all over the map with this GB today and have used OMGWTFBBQ more than once so it is a very peculiar day :)

It's really flying now!
By this time tomorrow we should hit 7x1.
We should coast to at least 8x1 by the time this is over.
What was my original prediction...? 10x1, I believe. :D

So I take it your opinion has changed considerably with regards to ST sounds?
No,I still dont really like ST sounds, but with a little eqing and effects you can make them work. I think the sounds in this group buy are a little better than the ST presets. There are some sounds that I really like in ST tho,but I have always liked sonik synth 2 sounds much better. I use miroslav all the time. Great sounds.

For me GM sounds should be Kontakt 3 or better and synths sound be nexus and better. Nothing is touching omnisphere synths IMO.

Even tho I have to use steven hawkins computer just to play 5 or more sounds.

Damn. I thought we had you on board as a new ST fanboy. :?

Fwiw, Squids/Sonic Reality, who created Sonik Synth and all of these Xpansion packs, also has provided content for (or assisted in the sampling of) the main SampleTank 2XL library.

I have Sonik Synth 2, and I like it a lot. But I would say that there are just as many great sounds in the main SampleTank library as there are in Sonik Synth library. Both have their "average" presets, and both have their "gems". I wouldn't want to be without either. :uhuhuh:

That's a particular kind of sound. I find the raw and unprocessed sounds in SampleTank much more useful. I want to be able to process things so that they fit well in my songs. I suppose it boils down to the type of music you are trying to create.

It isn't mostly multiple buys from what I'm told - I would guess there's a similar market to the T-RackS Singles group buy that topped 5,000 but ran for a different amount of time, different price point, etc, so not exactly a 1:1 comparison.
Thats impressive then.

Well, having now played with these sounds for a while, I must say: thank you, there are clearly enough of inspiring sounds in here to make this a very good deal!

I mostly bought multisample packs, and I'm especially liking the Cinematic Collection, Vintage Keys and World Instruments. Some very useful things in Symphony Strings also.

I did also get one loop pack (so far), and it was partly a somewhat weird letdown: Seventies Retro Grooves. I mean, after reading the product description and listening to the demos, it was kind of surprising to find stuff like Roland TR-808 and 909 loops in there, and a Hip Hop Beats category with many sounds resembling a digital-era Boss drum machine, and so on.

In all fairness, those surprises aside, the pack hosts numerous very usable sounds in the styles I was expecting, too. All in all, I'm very pleased of this deal :)

I get you Zedd. I definitely love this groupbuy and I was surprised at how much I like the sounds. Plus I was able to use jam points I never knew I had. BRILLIANT.

What did you think of the sample OB Zedd?

Post

I did my part... I just Signed up for a "3rd" time.....

I must have a few multi sample kits now after getting all those loops  ...

FYI-
The construction kits I had my doubts about, but took a chance on what others were saying here about them.

You see I am a blues-rock-guitar player and doubted I would like them or their styles, ....at first...

Boy was I wrong. These things are diamonds in the rough... REALLY....

HUGE creative potential here...!!!

THANKS

Unfortunately, you picked the ONLY groove pack that doesn't have Loop Slices, so it is has more limited use than other groove packs. :-( Having said that... it is one of my favorite groove packs, and I have been begging Squids to make a Loop Slice (or RAW) version of this pack. I think some of the Rock, Jazz and Tron loops are absolutely awesome. They have a character you don't find in any of the other packs.
ddash wrote:What did you think of the sample OB Zedd?
You know, this is one of the packs that I didn't even consider, since I was again convinced that I had all of it from a previous GB. But after doing searches on my computer for patch names, it turns out that I actually don't have most of it.

So I can't really say how much I like it, ddash. I can say, though, that I WANT IT. Since I have 3 freebies coming my way when we hit 7x1, I think I am going to have to take it, and leave the Electronic Drums behind. I wouldn't mind having the electronic drums, but having some more great synth pads to choose from will inevitably be more useful I think. I am very particular about my synth sounds... so having more options in my library is better, because many of them are not quite what I am looking for.

Excellent! 8)

Now if more people would take what you have just said to heart, we could hit 8x1 pretty quickly. I have NOT AN OUNCE of regret about buying all 6 construction kits. I am very happy that I did so, and am excited about finding time to play around with each of them and to invent some new material.

Fantastic packs they are.
