Hard to resist when looking for the best filter sounds packed with lots of option. It may have no equal for a long time to come. I think I'm sold too.
The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.

Who is designing the presets for the final release?

"With The Drop v1 just about to be released I took some timeout from coding to run through a few different ways you can use it. A couple of warnings: it is rambling, I say "so" and "um" a lot, and just when I think I've covered everything I keep on thinking of more things to cover, but hopefully it will be useful anywayFunkybot's Evil Twin wrote:Just to steer the conversation back off the topic of C/P schemes and back to the plugin itself:
Will the Oct 3rd release include presets and the planned video tutorials? I can be insanely dense when it comes to anything other than simple LFO modulation, so it'd be nice to get some presets doing cool things and an in-depth tutorial video on how to get the most of the modulation system.
Here is the same audio mixed properly, I ended up shifting the pads up an octave, and moving the high pass on the drums up to 80 hz to cut some of the rumble and make room for the bass:

Yes, The Drop only calculates the minimum of what is needed. If there is no active modulation then the mod isn't computed. I detect this in a number of ways: if all the power buttons for the mod sources are off, or if all the mod depths are zero, or if all the "mod active" buttons next to the destinations are off. You can also use the MD (medium definition) quality filter models instead, which sound almost as good as the HD versions, but use half the cpu.meloco_go wrote:Great vid!
A thought crossed my mind, so a question for Andy -- with all the clever modulation circuits inside the Drop, when I use it statically, does the modulation still work? I mean, I started to use more and more of the drop on various sources, like adding oomph to a kick, or controlling low end on guitars, etc etc. For that I don't use any modulation and I won't to keep CPU at lowest possible use. So does Drop only calculate filters when no modulation is used?
Also if silence is sent in, and the resonance is not self oscillating then it will bypass all processing of the filters until some audio is sent to it, so if you have loads of tracks that only have a tiny amount of audio that is spread out then you can use The Drop with minimal cpu load on those easily.
Even when you are using everything the cpu use of v1 is much lower than what you have with the current beta.

No you can't modulate the spread, but this is only an issue for the envelope followers since all other sources are stereo already so can change the stereo spread in more useful ways.nrosko wrote:Thanks for the vid, can't wait to have a go. Assume its not possible to modulate spread like you can in the beta?

Gareth (Ted) Green who did the presets for The Glue and I'll also add some myself to fill in any gaps. I'm going to also get Jase FOS to do another pack in the near future.aMUSEd wrote:Who is designing the presets for the final release?

This looks like an awesome plugin and I will probably buy it.
Even though I know this won't change anything I just have to say that C/R is a big fly in my soup.
What is a "reasonable" amount of activations? I have two laptops for live performance (1 main and 1 backup) and two big desktop computers in the studio. The scenario that I lose two laptops while traveling and, say, one of my studio computers breaks in the same month is not entirely impossible. I now need three new authorisations and I'm unsure whether I can get them and how long it takes to get them. Cytomic is a single-person company, if the user is dependent on personal support, what if there's a health problem or other accident that knocks Andy out while I'm on tour?
I know these cases are very improbable, but the biggest problem is that _I worry_ about these things and _I don't like worrying about software_! It makes me angry that I have to.
Bottom line:
1) C/R is always an extra hassle for the paying user
2) C/R does not stop piracy
Ergo, don't C/R.
Anyway, cheers and congrats for The Drop - it is awesome.

Very impressive Andy.
Although I seriously don't need another filter, this one is too slick to pass. I am a guy who tries to avoid all betas and alphas as much as I possible can. If there any benefit of buying it now - or wait until the 1.0 release?
Question. I liked the part when you where just playing an unfiltered wave from Cypher - and added TD as a filter with envelope. How does that work in practice? The envelope is in TD Attack, Hold and Release - with the hold down to zero, would the release function as a traditional decay knob? What I am after here is of course snappy filter envelopes.
