I found that the "analog" sound quality of Synth Squad, especially Strobe, could be seen best on the Lead sounds. They are raw, fat, warm and screaming, exactly how it should be. I don't know how many synths (hard + soft) i tried to find "that" kind of Lead sounds i always searched for. Most of them (including hardware and yes this includes the Evolver desktop and the Matrix 1000!!) were just sounding weak and digital IMHO. Besides owning a real Minimoog D for a short time (which could still be seen as THE reference) i mostly used Minimonsta, SampleMoog, Sylenth1 and ProSoloVST for leads.
Finally Strobe and Cypher could be my new favorites in this important category. :D

PS: I could still (after 4 years) kick myself in the ass for selling the Mini. It was fully serviced when i got it via EBay and was running 100% stable. I guess i could get no other Mini in better condition anywhere. I don't expect i could have so much luck a second time (besides buying a NEW Mini).

I have some nice brass patches coming up in my Cypher sound bank. Currently at about 300 presets.

Hello Raphael, nice to hear from you. I'm looking forward to your Cypher soundbank. Your Synth Squad factory patches are very nice already.

Yes I know it isn't going to happen, but even in retrospect having purchased Synth Squad I wish there were sold individually.... I love Strobe and Cypher... Maybe the next presets will change it but as I suspected Amber is not my cup of tea....Fusor maybe but uses way too many resources for me to use it in any practical project.... If I had to do it all over again and they were sold individually I would buy Strobe and Cypher in a hearbeat and leave the other two.

are you seriously talking about selling pieces of a team which sold in price of one synth? how can fusor loaded with 3 strobes use significantly more resources than 3 strobes alone?

Post

yes Fusor with strobe loaded is using the same amount of cpu as strobe with the same preset here?

the FX don't take much on my CPU either,

some of the presets in fusor are way greedy (mine included) but they are loaded with 3 synths & many FX using Unison x3 on many of my synths,

work a patch from start in fusor it should be no worse than the synths stand alone

i'm sure as time passes & new updates come the cpu demand will decrease (as with most CPU greedy plugins, future updates tame them a bit)

we are still running the first release don't forget :)

no I am not selling pieces/parts.. I dont' even think I can legally do so. I had made the point a few months ago that I wished they were sold seperately and now confirming for whatever reason :-), that my views on that hasn't changed.
Yes I am sure they are some Fusor patches that will work fine in a project but I have tried many patches that can't because of resource problems and I have just given up on using it in the current version.

Amber was worth the price of admission.

I got Strobe, Cypher, and Fusor for free! :D

Ah, sorry zvenx, I missed your post. :)
Not sure about the final release date. These sounds could go through Fxpansion or I could release them through my site, don't know yet. I was also thinking of patching each Cypher preset from this collection in Fusor to benefit from all those gorgeous effects, but this might have to wait. You can hear this in Synth Squad already, where you will find 'dry' presets in all synths, and 'FX' versions in Fusor.

I'm just happy that this collection is much more polished and refined. Cypher is a beast and needs time to get the best out of. The modulation options are so extensive and really invite experimentation, which means; time lost = no sleep ! :D

Does anyone know what the drums are on the Introduction To Strobe video?

Post

I haven't read all the posts (I don't have a spare couple of days...) here, so forgive me if this has already been asked.

Is there a way of outputting Midi from Animator :?:

I have tried to set up Eloquence to the same sequence etc but, something is just not right and I need the direct output of Animator.

I can't seem to find anything about this in the manual but I'm hoping I just overlooked it

:)
