2021: A Year in Gear (What You've Bought or Want to Buy in 2021)

I know I’ll end up getting Keyscape for the same reason. I recently added Trillian and I had the same reaction of wishing I hadn’t waited so long to buy it!
Back on Hardware… I’ve got my 2nd dirty feeling for a purchase this year. I ordered the Slate VSX. I needed closed back headphones but wasn’t happy with anything I found. I’ll try the VSX out and hopefully it’s not all hype, but it’s hard to know with Slate stuff. I just need to settle on a room or two and stick with it *if* it does help.

Never ended-up modding either of my BCR 2000's with the Zaquencer, but really considered doing so. The BCR32 re-issue should be interesting.
For those unfamiliar with the Zaquencer:

The specs are great and I'm sure the device will be. I have had my BCR2K and BCF2K for 15 years now and they've never missed a beat. Pretty indestructible. The BCF2K fell out of use for a while but after Os released the standalone update for the ES-9 it is in daily use as the mixer for that (and the computer rarely enters the room). My BCR2K got a bit ... ermm... melted a few years ago but is still 100% functional. It currently has the demo Zaquencer on it (one lane only) and I was going to buy the full version when (a) the BCR32 was announced, and (b) Brexit led the dev to refuse UK sales. Zaquencer works brilliantly for live play and I eagerly await being able to use it.

I’d love one of those, have an X Touch mini so can just about remember 8 things, but my memory is more like a sieve than ever so would prefer something that caters for onscreen labelling of CCs.
The Faderfox EC4 is closest to what I’m after, but ideally there’d be a BCR32 with an EC4 style screen.
Not bought the EC4 as it doesn’t have lit ring encoders.

Hydrasynth Deluxe order in. Will get it when it shows up, no hurry.
Will be fun though! First hardware synth since a Korg X3 (LOL).
Sustain pedal broke, so got a new Korg DS-1H
Can't think of anything else, hasn't been a big year for purchases for me, except the Hydrasynth.
Oh yeah, Komplete 13. Will again at 16 probably. Love Native Instruments.
What a wonderful time to have access to all these sounds and manglers and interfaces and tools and so on.

I use some whiteboard tape on the desk in front of my 16n Faderbank and write notes on it with whiteboard markers. I originally was going to keep them lined up with the faders, but it's just as easy to write something likeWatchTheGuitar wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 10:49 pm I’d love one of those, have an X Touch mini so can just about remember 8 things, but my memory is more like a sieve than ever so would prefer something that caters for onscreen labelling of CCs.

That would work if I was going to use one solely with hardware, but I’d want to use it for various plugins and DAWs too.foosnark wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 1:13 amI use some whiteboard tape on the desk in front of my 16n Faderbank and write notes on it with whiteboard markers. Yes, or even different ‘recording’ and ‘mastering’ templates for the same project.foosnark wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 3:38 amThat confused me for a minute...
