it also appears that multi takes is by default and it saves all those files...is there a purge somewhere for unwanted files?

it seems to opening quicker now...also I love the multi workspace...

Edit > Preferences > system > force complete flush option (bottom left)

I think this does what you want?

After a reboot it seems to take a long time the first opening... then quicker for subsequent openings. Just like Ableton Live.

I didn't see remove hidden clips

The options you have mentioned don't relate to file management - the only way to get rid of unwanted files is to save the session to a new folder with "save copies of all associated file" ticked, then delete the original folder. Try the procedure with some rubbish first of course to ensure that you're doing it right, before deleting real work folders! You could use this workflow also to provide backup to the project - don't delete the original folder till after a second save to a new folder, if you follow what I mean.

No advice from me re rewire, apart from ensuring that the correct asio driver is loaded and latency selected from the control panel.

okay, now I've got a pretty good idea about the new features, the old features and ran some 1.5 sessions through...some great new features and/or implementation of old features. I do think it's a good upgrade, though in all honesty I think the upgrade price is way too high (fortunately I'm not worried about that) the difference between the cost to the new customer between 1.5 and 2.0 is 50 dollars...I really think that Adobe has some nerve charging as much as they are for the upgrade...we loyal customers get it free with other companies...and yet (and Adobe isn't alone) I can understand paying some for the upgrade...imo it's worth the same as the cost difference in retail....25% more would be okay....but 160% more? Whether I upgrade or not (and it seems likely I will) that tells me a lot about how much respect Adobe has for it's exisisting customers...160% less respect then they have for new customers.

Personally I think that sux big time, I can afford it no problem...but that's slimey as all hell imo and too much the trend it the software industry...greedy bastards.

Yet they'll get my money

I'm actually struggling to get ahold of some of the headline new features...

ASIO I already had (as yet unresolved) problems with as I said ...

...but also I just can't see how to set up MIDI controller support for the mixer. I can see the mackie control surface option... but what about other control surfaces such as my M-Audio one - are they not included in this feature?

Hink - I agree with your points, and if ASIO and MIDI control surface support don't work out I don't personall think I can justify the upgrade cost...

well I think many of us was waiting to see what adobe would do after getting CE, I think in the past they were quite fair...but I can't help but feel part of the upgrade is paying for the name Adobe...but you'll have to forgive me, I just went through how much I spent in 05 on gear

Meanwhile I just checked on the status of my returns, likely the state will greet me in the morning, and by the end of the week I will get the federal...so now I have 550 spent already...including AA2.0...

voxengo crunchessor now can use sidechain....it use to just close down 1.5...

Okay, so the Rewire issue is now solved. Seems all you need to do is have the transport running in order to get low-latency use of Reason from within Audition 2.0. And it works great, meaning that I can now record Reason directly into Audition tracks. Yay!

I still don't see how I can use my M-Audio controller to move mixer sliders yet though... anyone?

I have tried recording automation in using the mouse, which is really fantastic. The automation and envelopesd in AA2.0 is a major step forward, and already works better than in Sonar 5 PE (where VST automation envelopes are currently broken - you can only automate one VST parameter!). This is great!

Other stuff I really like in this update:

* The tabbed view and custom workspaces
* improvements to frequeny spectrum editing and the new frequency pan/phase displays - could be very useful, not just eye candy!
* The ability to darken the interface with orange type - way cool

* The Izotope multiband compressor - very good indeed. In case you don't know, when you register you also get a single band tube compressor by Izotope as a reward for registering

* The mixer routing. I can't get over how superb this mixer is - the best looking software mixer I have seen, and very flexible!
* Effects bins for sends and on the master stip. The lack of these in v1.5 stops me using it for multitrack at present, so a big improvement now!

Things I'm not so sure about:

* Why have they removed the CPU load meter

- that is a very useful display to have!
* controller support...

I am really liking the demo, but is the demo version different from the retail version? Has anyone bought this yet?

I too am also wondering what happened to the CPU load meter and -- at least in the demo version -- I cannot change the gui colours, only the wave form displays. I hope it's not like that in the retail version because I'm not too keen on this 'Adobe Gray' scheme... I have a nice 'death-black' & 'frozen bone-blue' colour thing happening with 1.5

Also, as Hink says, the price seems extraordinary, yet, I have always been fairly comfortable with Adobe support and so maybe this pricing reflects that.

Other than these slight annoyances, I am blown away with all the new features -- esp. the mastering/FX rack, A/B roll, reduced CPU loading, metering and additional ASIO support. Damn good improvements IMHO.

I'm wondering if maybe buying the new 'Premier Pro' bundle (or whatever they're calling it) which includes Audition 2.0 is a better bang for the bux than just the Audition upgrade...

Out of curiosity, has everyone received their single band tube compressor after registering yet?

I installed the boxed version, registered after installing and made sure I checked the box that said for Adobe to contact me via email (thinking that they would send the tube compressor via email). That was all on Jan 19th.

I am not sure how long we are supposed to wait or if the system is set up yet to contact all who registered?

Did you try this (which works for me in the demo):

Edit > Preferences > COlors > UI brightness (bottom of the dialog box). If you set this lower you can get the screen much darker (and as I mentioned, the text turns orange once you reduce below about 20% on the slider).

...and I guess that the paid updates are on an 18-month cycle, rather than the annual fee charged by Ableton/Cakewalk/etc, which helps a bit

This is a significant upgrade, and now I've had another session with it, I think I am definitely hooked!
