That's interesting. I always wondered whether Reality had a license. I've
talked with the Stanford office of intellectual property licensing, which
handles licensing the Sondius portfolio (Yamaha has veto rights). They were
quite positive about the prospects of licensing. It's not as though Yamaha
has a lucrative waveguide modeling dynasty to protect, and time is running
out on the patents.

I can see them being careful about softsynths because of copying issues, but
use of the technology in a way that is bound to special hardware could be
interesting to them. I haven't pursued it in depth however, so far.

I use a cheap 2 year old hp pavillion. works nearly flawlessly. the reall key is which host. i use fl studio because it has the most indepth parameter control of any host i've ever seen. i also have 2 different sound cards; my main one is an m-audio firewire audiophile and the other is an echo indigo IO. i dedicate the inputs to the vl70 so ican use it as an effects processor too.

i can honestly say that i have converted my whole "rig" to software except for the vl70, and last night, playing with just the laptop and the wx5 without the vl70, has made me even more anxious to start leaving it at home. the only music hardware i will ever buy again will be either a new controller or soundcard and/or a new laptop.

I have tried b4 , must say I am amazed,however I would like to add some of my impressions. I am not a professional trumpeter nevertheless, to add more realism to the highest pitch notes (that sound bit artificial to me)some sort of random noise slider should be added. High pitch notes sound bit theremin like too clear. Some random interpolation between tone and breath noise should probably create more realistic high pitch trumpet shrieks. It would be great for free jazz feeling. May be it is just a silly idea.

Yep. something like a constriction of the lips under pressure.

There was a paper in scientific american about how trumpet players, even ones claiming not to use any/much pressure use around 55 pounds over an area of lip 5cm wide while playing in the high range. eventually at some note vibration gets cut off.

Great job on Beta4 Zio! I agree that the sound is improved from the previous beta. Likes some others in this thread, I also notice the constant vibrato. It accentuates when I use aftertouch which is fine, but is it neccessary to always have it present?

- Completely modified the tube model, resulting in a more realistic behaviour
- The pitch bend is smoother and almost linear, interacts with tube resonance
- Overall sound slightly brighter and less plastic

And a small song just recorded with b5, jamstix, a sampled bass and one of my "leftovers"

ZioKiller, thank you for this (and all of your other plugs). Unfortunately I'm atm in a situation I cannot donate, but I will most definately help with a donation in the summer when I'm working.

I've been playing a bit with this plug and it's really good, I am not a trumpet player, so I cannot say anything "specific" about it
